The DCS Updater / Launcher GUI Utility Version 2.0 (2023+)

Recommended Posts

  • 3 weeks later...

Im trying to select SteamVR in the "VR interface settings" but its somehow greyed out acting if its not installed but it is. Im an Oculus rift S user and I wish to start DCS using SteamVR instead so I can try this https://github.com/fholger/openvr_fsr and this https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit

I have tried to troubleshoot this with multiple people but no success.

image.png

Even if I click browse and select the path \Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR it doesnt change anything, I also tried \Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\bin\win64

should be the /Steam/ Root folder, the app automatically would scan the sub folders.

I dont know why as an Oculus user you'd want to experience the steamVR app crashing left and right,

there's a reason everyone on WMR/SVR is Flocking to OpenXR.

Sounds good, but will the same custom names still refer to both the stable and OB file, or will they be referenced separately?

Development Update for October:
-App Multi-threading continues to be debugged (as expected, the move to MT caused many expected sync issues between threads and the UI)
-Preset names (are now set per build slot, Presets 1-4 have unique names per build, when changing builds the Preset 1-4 Names change as well).
-Huge features were added, will be revealed later, I also plan to expand on those as the new app develops.
-UI Art Adjustments were made, UI Art will still be adjusted in phases during internal development as things are added, UI Art is updated for existing features/functions.

Well I like using your app but all of the sudden it will not load.

I start the updater Application

The pic of the start comes on then disappears.

No reason given just gone.

I do not have an Eagle Dynamics in my program list so I can not repair or anything.

Thanks

Sometimes it goes off screen or is minimized. Can you see the icon on the notification area of the Taskbar? If yes, just right click and restore.

It doesn't 'install', you just drop the folder within the zip file wherever you like and run it from there.

Have you followed the steps to clear a bad config file?
Also when extracting, make sure all dependent DLLs are in the same folder.

@SkateZilla, just a little suggestion for the new version.  Windows system folders, e.g. Pictures, Documents, Saved Games, etc., can be relocated by right clicking on the folder name and selecting 'Properties/Location', which is really useful when using cloud services like OneDrive.  When I relocate 'Saved Games', games like DCS, recognise the change all fine, but your utility doesn't. It still insists on putting its stuff into '...users/xxxx/Saved Games' folder rather than the relocated, system one.

It would be nice to make that work in the future.

The App gets the path directly from Windows//Environment.GetFolderPath//Environment.SpecialFolder.UserProfile ,

I will double check if there is another command, but as far as I can tell, there isn't, but I haven't really gone in depth with it.

There should be an option for Specify Custom User Profile folder, in the App's Options to the right of the Set folders.

Once set, if folder exists, it will save logs there.

Essentially that's the same thing.

Thanks but I can't get 'Specify Custom User Profile Folder' to work. All I see is the attached.

Had a bad experience with Open beta 2.8 (many bugs, poor performance, broken plugins) so chose to revert back to 2.7 until a few more things get fixed. I could only do this because your fantastic app made it so easy!

Thank you for your huge contribution to the DCS community. It’s much appreciated.

@SkateZilla I am no longer able to launch the app (tried the last two versions of it)... and not sure if it is related to my pc or the app, but I am getting this exception and, no matter if I hit Quit or Continue, the app closes automatically afterwards:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
