JOINT WARRIOR ROUND 5 - TACTICAL PVP BATTLE

FLANKERATOR

Many thanks for the effort Maverick, flankerator and the 104th. You are and have been doing a great job putting these events together and it's unfortunate that so many people couldn't show (myself included).

I cannot speak for the no-shows last week, since that was planned in good time beforehand. Everyone signed up should have made it there. But when shit hits the fan and you/we need to reschedule, as boring as it may be, I think it's better to put the new date a few weeks ahead so everyone at least gets the chance to organize their calendar to make it. When we rescheduled to one week after, it was a lot of us (51st at least) who were already booked for RL stuff. Had it been 1 or 2 weeks more, we would be able to plan for that. I know you want to get the event going asap, but I think "rushing it" will cause these things. This goes for one day format as well. Maybe next time, include a backup date 3-4 weeks after the main one? Just an idea which might not be so thought through. In the end though, even scheduled events will see some % of no-shows I guess.

Again, you've done an amazing work for the community. Thanks!

Those are good and valid points, X. The difference between the 51st and others being though, that if your whole squad wouldn't be a show, we would have known so much in advance, not only by pm, but also by either you or Frostie or Tek coming over and telling us, discussing possibilities.

Real Life always has to come first. And that shouldnt be a problem, and thanks to the flexibility of the participating pilots (THANK YOU SO MUCH!), we were able to balance the team and still have a blast.

The dissapointing part was probably that the no-shows didn't even bother to tell us. And that's not ok. We really do understand if someone can't make it and we'd never hold it against him (we also won't this time), but for the future we would like that if he's a lone wolf he himself makes the effort of telling us ASAP or if it is a squadron, they notify us as a squad, just like the 51st does.

The moment one signs up for an event, it is his or her responsibility to keep the organizer informed.

And just as we don't hold it against someone if this happens now and then (and espacially if we get informed), what will also be a consequence, is that if we notice someone doing this over and over again (hopefully not lol), we would have to take action in excluding him from future events. It is also unfair that ppl hold slots while others might have wanted to fly, but the slot is full. A lot of ppl don't really show from the reserve list, if we cannot notify them in advance.

Concerning the "rushed" finals, again, it's a good point, X. In our defense though I have to say, that we had to rush it because of other events that are coming up. Sometimes it also becomes a delicate matter of how many events the community can carry and when. And with everything that is coming in spring and summer, we felt that if we had to postpone it much further, we basically would have had to cancel it. But you are totally right, offering a secondry date further back from the get go is a good idea!

Thanks for your input mate, and pls pass a GF S! to the Bisons. It has been a pleasure like always!

The scoring page has been updated to reflect logs from the finals between Red and Blue.

It seems like that final fight was very close with 55 points difference only on the scoreboard, which is worth one fighter aircraft roughly; neither side seemed able to dominate the air battle with both sides snatching a few kills here and there then Blue started to take the upper hand after 2 brilliant A2A kills from 104th_knight followed shortly by =RvE=Dackster who went on the rampage as he scored 6 ground kills in addition to an air kill from his A-10C.

The tides seemed to have definitively turned in favor of team Blue at that point, however and in a heroic push led by an unstoppable F99th_Sweeper, Omny and Wizard, the ground pounding gurus, went to work scoring enough points to level the scores; the coup de grace was delivered by TurboRUSH with a final air kill that allowed team Red to snatch victory.

That one was in my opinion the most exciting final to watch in the Joint Warrior series!

Scoring-wise: I will wait til tomorrow night before closing the claiming section so that I can award ranking points for JW5, so if anything please post on SA forum. Iam under the impression that there are loads of potential kill shares to claim from respective pilots and thats worth 25 points each!

Thanks to everyone involved: organizers and participants and despite a few bumps down the road, this has been another successful PvP event and looking forward to seeing you all in the next one!

EDIT: gap went up now after a kill claim from Frostie on Skycap who was not visible on Tacview.

Thanks Flankerator. Although I was unable to participate in the final I had alot of fun last week in the preliminary!

Just following on from Ironmikes post perhaps its better (if we are going to plan multi-stage community events like joint warrior again) that we try with smaller teams. It might be easier to confirm participation that way and pilots would feel their absence is more detrimental.

Just my thoughts since i've really enjoyed the JW series so far and it would be shame to bury it.

Solid flying Rage! Its too bad that you could not fly in the finals, you had good momentum!

Future-wise, we will not bury JW, we are thinking of ways to limit the rate of absenteeism.

Unlike 24/7 servers where you can turn up and jump off at your leisure, JW relies on people who signed up to actually show up to keep the teams balanced and the seeding meaningful.

Still, we had no less than 80 pilots flying in this so there is only one word I can think of: success!

Red Flag 5 is coming up then we will have Top Gun 3 from our friends at TAW! Future looks good:thumbup:

crash landing is loss? :/

Tiger, did you take a screenshot of your Eagle after that crash landing? I know you purged the 10mn penalty before respawning but I need to see how your F-15 looked like after that crash landing (if you busted the gears only or was there more damage taken)

Please post your screenshot or video of your landing on SA forum and well take it from there.

Yeah Mav, thanks to all the organizers, and the pilots who participated in the JW 5, waiting for the next round with GCI!

In the 71st we are training more fighters and strikers to fill any future absences in any coalition, you can count with us!

=EDP 71st= RuSh

;2709620']Thanks to everyone who showed up, really sorry to hear about the issues with the server, I had to work and couldn't make it :(

This round will be the last Joint Warrior we do for some time, in future we no longer plan to do any Multiplayer Events for the community over more than 1 day.

I know real life has to come first, however.... far to many people simply just didn't show up this week AND last week!

This is more disappointing than you guys know (you know who you are)

A lot of time and effort goes in to making these events happen, many people do a lot of work behind the scenes to make them possible. I think most people totally take for granted just how much work and stress is involved in putting together events for the community.

The volume of no shows over the last two weeks has really opened our eyes, so we are not going to bother any more with planning events like these.

Instead we will stick to a one day format with teams playing each other only once, similar to Red Flag, there will be no more events with a prelim and finals.

Again, thank you to everyone who showed up last night and last weekend, you guys saved us from canceling the event!

Great job Flankerator! Thank you once more for putting in the time and devotion to the community.

Congratulations Sweeper, well deserved recognition. Have had the pleasure to listen in on your comms and witness your flying in the short time I have been back, and it is worthy of being set as an example for all to follow.

Also great to see Knight being recognized, outstanding performance! I was quite literally shocked at how agressive he flew against us when I watched the tacview. Did not expect such audacity! It pays off to take initiative and keep it in a dogfight. Good stuff! Frostie will be hearing about this for a long time ;)

Last but definitely far away from least... Wizard and Omny. These guys are out of this world! We have had the honor of flying with them for a few years now. No matter the task, the difficulty or how neglected we leave our bombers... they get stuff done. I swear it inspires me to watch these guys go to work. Major kudos to this pair!

Here is to many more fun times, great fights and outstanding comraderie.

Cheers!

Anyway, was a great round, thanks Flank' and all those who participated!

Dear fellow pilots,

at first I'd like to apologize for not showing up for the final battle without further notice. I don't really know why I didn't make it but when I realized I ****ed up it was too big of a shame for me to just come by and explain myself. Then, last weekend, I thought I missed Red Flag 5 so it just made me more ashamed.

After reading the report from Flankerator and some days passed, I finally found the balls to come here. I'm really sorry for not showing up but at the moment I'm struggling with some health issues that keep me from flying.

I also wanted to thank Flankerator and the guys from 104th for all the effort and time you put into such events and you deserve many many Kudos for what you are doing. Another big salute goes to the badass pilots from the 51st who kinda paved the way to the victory of the RED coalition, although the final battle was as close as it can get. Congratulations to Sweeper for MVP, you got mad skills and this time probably also the biggest chunk of luck.

There is also one thing I wanted to ask: Why did I get an honorable mention for the overall event? I killed 2 guys without dying, but only in the first battle and didn't participate in the final (being AWOL).

Albeit this was only my second event and I kind of want to set a foot print within the community, I think there were other pilots that did better than me.

Anyways, sorry again for not showing up for the finals and thank you for flying with me, no matter what side you were on.

Salute!
