Recommended Posts

Hi Roland,

Do you wan't just a connector to replace the one that got pinched in the case, or do you want a the whole sensor and connector?

Hi Miles,

I'm looking at getting my old Cougar back up and running with your kit. I don't know whether my unit has the old or new board (something I vaguely understand to be a problem from reading this thread). Should I open it up and check before ordering?

Ah yes that's for me also the question miles..

or isn't it needed to cut a circuit for the stick?

Old boards (3,8V) without cut the PCB trail and make the resistor bi-pass need a external +5V voltage source, like the amplifier circuit in the topic bellow - what maybe induce some noise in the signal:

And that for install require make solder, so in matter of work will be like exchange "6 for half dozen. :)

Or need be integrated in HALL sensor kit by their maker, crating a "PnP" solution - at additional cost.

Definitely check and if its the old board the trace cut mod should be something you are comfortable doing.

Thanks for the interest

Sokol1, I am grateful for your response, but I can't quite understand the details of what you're saying. Will I need a multimeter to tell whether it's the old or new board? I have solder and an iron, but would need to get a MM.

Don't need measure with multimeter.

Just look at TQS board PCB if are a resistor R1 in the trail going for potentiometer connector labeled +Ve in the picture.

If are is the board is old model with 3,8v and need make the by-pass cut and solder a jumper (wire or resistor 220 OHMS).

In the new revision of the board (5 volts) no resistor in this place:

I would like to purchase both of the kits. For now, I'd like to just purchase the Stick kit for my Cougar. Does the kit come with notes or instructions for any modifications needed for the PCB? I watched the YouTube video (Thank you very much for that MilesD). I didn't see a need for any PCB mods....did I miss something? I just can't wait to be able to refuel actually. This spiking thing is just.......whatever.....I'm so sick of it.

In the video Cougar is with latest PCB revision.

If you have early Cougar model, PCB mod (resistor by-pass) is required.

Is easy to determine PCB version visually, based on previous posted pictures.

Thank you Sokol...are those pictures posted in this thread? I looked at all the pictures but they're referencing a TQS. Throttle Quadrant System?? So I'm referring to the Stick portion of my Cougar, not the Throttle board.

OK, if you want HALL sensor only for Cougar joystick, nothing to worry.

The resistor by-pass mod is required for Cougar TQS (the throttle), early revision.

Cougar Stick Hall Sensor Kit needed badly.

Miles Please include me in your next production run. I so need a Hall Kit for my Throttle and my Stick (Cougar). It's not the old board either although it's the game controller connector to the Stick from the Throttle, but it's USB to the Puter. I am totally interested in both kits.

I sent you my contact information. Please let me know if I need to send it again. Also let me know when and where to send you money.

Thanks

Production Run

Sorry to all of those that have been waiting for me to send a invoice. I really hope I can do another production run next week. Every time I try and set aside a few days to make more kits life keeps getting in the way. I have all of your pm's and as soon as your order is ready I will send paypal invoices. All I require is your email and which products you would like to order

Thanks again for all of your support and patience.

Miles

Hi Mile.

I saw your mode and read full thread. You have done excellent job. Your work is very clean and very easy to install. I would like to suggest you that you should edit your first post and add some images of your hall sensor mode plus the tutorial videos and any helping material. This will benefit newcomers. They will find things in the first page and they don't need to read the full thread. I hope you will get some more customer

Hall sensors

I am so pleased to see someone with the skills producing these. I bought a rudder pedal kit from CubPilot years ago, which I might add still works beautifully. Unfortunately all attempts to contact him since have failed. Miles I have sent you an email as I also see that your private messages are full. Once again thanks for doing this.
