Should Rock congrats...maybe a larger SSD like a 540GB since cost doesn't appear to be an issue.

A nice roomy case with good airflow and fans are a plus. You might want to OC that K one day.

Also if you built it yourself you could save. It's really not difficult.

Thanks much. I had built the last one, but not sure about the liquid cooling thing.

Thoughts on 32 v 16Gigs of RAM

Also, is the latest version of DCS worth a 4K monitor or would a 2560 x 1440 resolution be about the "same" as far as the gameplay goes?

RAM is cheap, might as well get 32gb, and dcs will look much better and run fine at 1440p. The extra resolution at 4k doesn't make up for how much you need to turn the graphics settings down, unless you're running two 980tis in sli.

I looked up the price tag for this system,$1700 is way too much for those specs.

Id seriously consider looking at building your own system, you could save hundreds and have a better system.

Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 16GB; Hard disk space: 30 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 / ATI R9 290 DirectX11 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

This is presumably for 1080. If you want 1440 then you'll need a to spec up.

I went with 32GB of Ram when I built this rig. Some will say it's over kill.

But it sure doesn't hurt.

32 GB RAM here, too. I went with the same processor and chip set. +1 on the SSD, no more HDDs for me. 800 watts is good enough to run 2x graphics in SLI, I have 980 Ti's driving a 48" 4K and loving it. Recommend a full tower case for liquid cooling, and get a 1500 VA uninterruptable battery backup unit.

I`d build this for you way cheaper if you were in my country....

Don buy pre-assembled from guys you dont know is my advice.

It is niot very hard to put on together, alone or with a friend who knows some more. You save some big bucks that you can invest into a decent watercooling, many are easwy to install if you opt for a AIO WC instead of DIY like I have.

Either WC pays for itself, quiter if u get the right fans, better cooling, better OC, overall longer lifetime of components, none of my chips ever gets hotter than 48-49°C while gaming any game,

neither CPU at 4.8 nor GPU at 1.5GHz, thanks to WC !

Ask a local guy, dont buy elsewhere, buy where u get help and not just a bill ;)

i draw 604 watts with 1 x 980 in full overclock, i doubt 800 will power sli in full oc gpu & cpu...

..unless Corsair Link is not telling the truth when I log the wattage in the PSU.

...while gaming DCS it only consumes around 450W....but that only uses 2 cores.

Turn on newer games with more cores or run some high end software ( video rendering ) and you see the wattage go way beyond 500 if CPU and GPU are maxed out.

I would suggest 1kW minimun if you plan serious OC on SLI and CPU...along with multiple drives and maybe other add-on cards and access that draws power from your PSU.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=157374&page=11 shows my rig at 5GHz without GPU load, add that GPU with kombustor and you hit the 600Watts.

I like your 1500VA UPS...mandatory in that class but comes with a hefty price tag if you want a proper APC Smart Ups with 1500VA, beyond the scope of normal people but highly desirable.

I have a few which I dont use, RA versions, I may buy new BattPacks soon ( couple hundred € those alone ) and protect my rig.... sometimes the risc is less expense up to some point on the money scale... for a grand I can buy a new GTX....and mobo...

Thank for all the input. I think I will dive in and put one together. I did it about 4 years ago.

I am brand new to cooling systems and really have no idea about them; any ideas?

John

Check into DIY watercoolings if you want to stay versatile what and how you cool.

The downside of AIO are there small radiators with fans you have to replace right away so loud they are, and a GPU will almost never be able to be included in the loop if u have AIO solution.

There are a few good ones around, the prices are almost same if you pick from the best ones.

You can easily mix stuff among vendors as long as you obey a few rules and stick with one size of tubing and jacks. The good thing with DIY is you can have any size and amount of radiotors and thus significantly lower noise and improve cooling performance vs. small 240 or 360 based radiotors. The one I use i.e. is 3 x the size of a 360 running on 4 x 180mm fans.

When you opt for DIY WC, then you can consider a already pre-fitted GTX card, like the Poseidon from Asus. It directly plugs into the loop, hassle free :)

The loudest fan in my room is the Brother's MFC-8510DN fan when it is in use... silencio otherwise .

Cost...anywhere from 400+ to endless depending on how many gimmicks you need.

If you stay with the basics, solid ceramic pump, best CPU cooler money can buy, FastJacks-Quick Connectors ( 20 a set each !!), ext Radioator somewhere 600-800 incl all fans and cables usually.

If you add Monitoring and sensors you can explode the bill over a grand, sure. But you can always add later, but dont do it wothout quick connectors EVERYWHERE or you will hate that decision soon not to have them !!!

Thank you to everyone. I checked out a couple of how-tos on water cooling and I think I can do this. the thought of liquid running inside a PC case makes me very nervous but that is just me.

Now to figure out which cooling unit to buy:)

Any recommendations on a case since there will be lots of stuff in there?

I would NOT buy mine again, Corsair makes some good things but the cases..I dunno.

If you are used to Chieftec quality a Corsair case will definitely not please you !

Either Chieftec or LianLi if you can afford it, both are very solid cases.

I am 100kg heavy and I can put one knee on my Chieftec only and rest on it's top and lean behind the PC. if I do this with corsair the whole damn thing would CRUNCH LOL kid's stuff , colors, gimmicks Bullshit imho, non-professional BS but good looking.
