I thought it would be a good idea for the mission builders amongst us to collate our wish lists for extra features we'd like to have in the mission editor. So, here's my editor wish list:

1. The ability to edit coalitions post-mission creation. I'm aware that it's possible to do by editing the lists within a .miz file, but it'd be nice if we could do it natively in the editor.

2. The ability to use larger images for briefings. I would imagine that most people play in at least 1920 x 1080 by now so there shouldn't be any reason why we can't have briefing images that are larger than 512 x 512.

3. The ability to use short video clips, or at the very least .gif images, as well as static images in mission briefings. Imagine being able to include some "reconnaissance footage" in mission briefings! Of course the size of mission files would grow, but I don't really see that being a huge problem.

4. Instead of having separate text and images for mission briefings, I'd like to see mission briefings as a sort of 'word document' in which we could embed images, video files and audio clips. The briefing could then have pages instead of being a single scrollable text.

5. Realistic templates for ground vehicles and anti-aircraft systems, to include realistic layouts. For example, this would make placing SAM batteries or company-level armour formations massively less time consuming.

6. The ability to use custom map overlays, e.g. charts or map symbology.

Requests credited to other players:

7. The ability to draw on map as I requested here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=155260 - Credit to Stratos.

8. How about making the briefing image size the standard MS PowerPoint landscape slide size? Or better yet, adopt PDF format as the standard. - Credit to bns103

9. The biggest enhancement needed is the previously teased 3D viewer capability mentioned by Wags last year. - Credit to bns103

Requests credit to Ranbi2Delta:

10. Multi select

11. 3D panning

12. View 3D objects on the map

13. Fix the wind direction display (show where the wind is coming from as opposed to where it's going)

14. Additional wind layers

15. Multiple cloud layers

16. Cloud type selection (cumulus, stratus, cirrus, cumulonimbus, etc.)

17. Additional precipitation types and intensities (light rain, heavy rain, hail, etc.)

18. Precipitation layers

19. Turbulence layers and zones

20. Individual weather stations at airfields

21. Custom weather station placement

22. Weather front placement

23. Activate/deactivate weather stations, with weather interpolation in between

24. Ability to change atmospheric pressure units from mmHg to HPa and inHg.

25. Ability to display wind in knots

26. Ability to display altitude in feet (for wind layers, etc)

27. Fix wind speed (currently it doubles the speed that is put in)

Requests credited to ReconXPanzer:

28. Templates for static objects

29. 3D Mission Editor or at least more levels of zoom for greater accuracy

30. Multiple sets of waypoints for different units - what 'route they take' can be determined by triggers etc.

31. Allow small watercraft to traverse rivers where applicable (dependent on map I guess).

32. The ability to add/remove/rename coalitions as per this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=161289

33. Units conversion for the ruler (gives both feet, metres, km miles, nautical miles etc)

34. Drawable objects over mission editor

35. Fix satellite view to Caucuses (not really a wishlist but hey).

36. Be able to see individual trees in Caucuses map view

37. Coordinate editing for units - again, more accurate placement. (Both Long/Lat and decimal formats would be great

Anybody else have any mission editor suggestions?

Here are a few of mine:

  • Multi select
  • 3D panning
  • View 3D objects on the map
  • Fix the wind direction display (show where the wind is coming from as opposed to where it's going)
  • Additional wind layers
  • Multiple cloud layers

  • Fix wind speed (currently it doubles the speed that is put in)

You can probably tell what other flight simulators I play from this list. :)

I really hope all the suggestions on this thread are considered as it would make mission design much more streamlined and allow for far more dynamic mission design.

Edit: DarkFire, perhaps you could include all the suggestions that people list in the OP?

Something simple, maybe already available but I didn't figure it out how to do it

  • copy and paste units with all of theirs settings - waypoints, actions etc.

I'm missing something important in the ME. And I'm a bit surprised that this option is not there, unless I'm missing something... I'd like to be able to force a group of aircraft to RTB when flag X is true (or any other condition to trigger RTB). So for instance you have a SEAD group approaching their target, they fire their ARM's and when the search radar is dead you set a flag to ON. Then there should be an action that would be something like Group RTB and a drop-down to specify which group, IF FLAF X is True.

Secondly, the option to restrict usage of gun would be nice. Just to prevent AI to dive in on a target guns ablaze resulting in the AI to be blown to pieces.

I'm not a programmer, but RTB exists for out of ammo, then it shoudn't be too far fetched to have an RTB action that is triggered by a certain condition...

What I do now is enter a stop condition in the Enroute task. But that doesn't always work very well... Unless someone found a way....

Sugggestion. Put a last wp let say, wpx close to your airport. Then, the last wp on landing. Inatead of rtb, just put go to wpx then they will follow and land. Thia worked for me.

Some of My Wishes

1. The ability to draw polygonal or freehand trigger zones.

2. The ability to give trigger zones an altitude and to set triggers when either above or below the zone when inside the zone's defined area.

3. Already on the list, I think, but a 3D map/object editor or, at minimum, a 3D quick view while creating missions.

Thanks,

Paul

Request for disable item(s) in airfield stores

Example:

Say you want to stop people dicking about with Nukes but you dont manually want to have to edit every other single item as well in the airfield stores

1. Select air field in editor

2. Click full info

3. Click EQP

4. I untick Unlimited Munitions .......

and here is where the problem starts .....

Default quantity is set to 100 units for each item, now for example rockets ... 100 is not a lot to have a few rocket pods load will exhaust supply

My request and possible implementation

Have a check (tick) tick box against every type of item ( a disable flag)

So the list would have 3 columns now

Type Initial Disabled

So if I wanted to disable one or more items but have inifinte for everythig else on that airfield one single click would do it

I hope this makes sense, any questions please feel free to reply and ask

My top priorities for the ME Wish List are:

1. 3D object placement in a 3D environment.

2. I would like to be able to set the wind velocity and direction for whatever levels ED is willing to give us without having one be arbitrarily assigned by another as the first two are now. Also, could you put the selection for wind direction to blow in the direction it is FROM? This is how the entire aviation community throughout the entire world reports wind. Why would it be backwards in this, the most awesome aviation simulation in the entire world??!!

3. For each level, or altitude, that ED provides for wind, I would really like to be able to assign cloud cover and thickness.

4. I would really like to be able to separate the wind velocity from the affect on the sea state. The wind should definitely affect the appearance of the water but I would like to be able to select a SEA STATE, which affects all things floating in the water, separately from the wind velocity.

5. This is the most important wish of all, 3D object placement in a 3D environment!

I've got another addition:

Weather forecasting and different weather in different areas. You have a customisation time line where you can add weather stages and times between the changes allowing the weather to bend to your will.

Also I'd like to be able to set the weather in the larger scale MGRS grid. Having a copy and paste function to assign the same weather in multiple grids would be a must as well.

Another thing I'd like to see is the ability to define active runways, not leaving it up to the inbuilt ATC which normally makes me take off in the same direction as the wind, not into it. The same with landings, it normally tells me to land in a tailwind, not a headwind.

As right as you are, in the ME it's given to you as an arrow for the sake of simplicity. Though it could maybe be a customiseable feature in the ME so that everyone is satisfied...

Yeah, I understand how it works. I just wish that I could type in the wind as 270 at 10 kts and then roll onto a runway oriented to 270 and find that the wind is right in my face!!

It is like that as it is now, at least in my Nevada and Caucasus.
