Before getting NTTR, Im just curious how many servers switched to NTTR scenario (or offer both maps)

When checking the multiplayer server threads, I learned that most of them still are based on Caucasus map - which is good as this is my current environment , ...

but is there already enough action going on on NTTR servers ?

and if so, which time zone is best for going on NTTR ?

Cheers Jabo09

Compared to 1.5, there isn't much going on the 2.0 MP list. More so now because the Gazelle is only available on 2.0. That should change once it is released on 1.5. My guess is that once the new 1.5 terrain DLC is released, there will be even less traffic on 2.0. IMHO, Starway's Northern Europe mod changed the face of 1.5 for the better....the new DLC will hopefully take it a step further. ED might want to consider having Starway take a look at all of their maps.

It may be due to mission editor problems in NTTR. I know that I can't even write a simple strike mission, as basic things go wrong (such as traffic jams and AI pathing).

Slightly off-topic but keep in mind that Starways textures are a separate product. ED will update Caucasus for free at one point and they said they'll keep updating it.

Afaik ED's update will be more on the geometry than on the texture's though. Not an alternative texture update for free that would make SW's DLC redundant.

You mean we may lose the triangle mountain tops?

The only regularly active 2.0 server is F99th, but they run some pretty epic missions even with far fewer players (10-15 is typical). They are COOP focused, so it actually works better like that. It is US based and doesn't have admins round the clock, so outside EU and US primetimes, it can be buggered. There are other servers, but they have 0 players or are 2-3 person private servers. I don't think NTTR is worth $50 if you are planning to play mostly MP, but it's worth the $15 they keep offering it for if you get it with something else.

thx... Well if thats the case I will first try out the upcoming Caucasus terrain DLC and stay on that map..as this sim is big fun for me in MP most of the time...

Im pretty sure NTTR map MP activity will rise once you can easily switch between maps in just one game version...

Ill be honest I like NTTR but I regret I bought it.

Im more a MP player and I see no big server like 104th or taw now.

Yes I hope ED is focusing on 2.5 that will bring the maps in one version.

I'm thinking once a few more airbases are added, it may afford the distance required to set up a MP mission much like the venerable 104th does. Right now a little more distance is needed for A2A/Red v Blue.

2.0 becomes a lot more fun if you join a Squad such as TAW or F99th that plays 2.0 often. I play 2.0 as much or more than I play 1.5, but it is mostly small co-op missions with other TAW members. Hopefully over time more folks adopt NTTR and we see more populated servers, it really is a beautiful map to fly on.

I built a dedicated server for NTTR and a special 'cooperative pvp' mission for it over the last few weeks. I really like this map, but there wasn't enough going on. The server is powerful and smooth, and the mission is lots of fun. Check it out:

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

It's honestly awesome and really makes you feel like your training at home (if your a American). Plus it really does make for some hectic Red Dawn scenarios.

What make me sad is the the fact that the community was fighting ED for NTTR delay now its out and no one play on it when its more fun than caucasus.

Maybe the lack of airport?

one last question regarding multiplayer activity:

As the beta and the stable version are totally different installs, the player pool unfort. cannot be merged in multiplayer.

So, from your experience, where is more multiplayer action going on ?

- 1.5 beta Causcaus map

or

- 1.5 stable Causcasus map

???

1.5 Open Beta and Stable are compatible to each other at this moment. Most players run the Stable branch, although you can (currently) play on Stable servers using the Open Beta build.

ok thx for clarifying this...didnt know that...

So this means no MP activity advantage / disadvantage for any of the version, which is cool... I hope it stays this way.
