@hannibal I wouldn't upgrade your "old" i7-2600K. Intel hardly improved their processors since Sandy Bridge in term of raw power. you can spend a lot of money on a new CPU but you won't see much improvement in gaming, going from Sandy Bridge+ CPUs to the more recent CPUs is probably the worst fps per dollar investment. You'd get a much better experience by keeping your CPU and getting a second graphic card.

As for "water cooling" it with H100i, I wouldn't do that either. These all-in-one water cooling solution won't give you anything close to a proper custom water cooling solution. AFAIK they're not better than your usual air cooling solution. Get a proper pump, a nice wide radiator and push pull it with enough fans and you'll get yourself a much better cooling solution. Personally I have a 3570k OC'd at 4.5GHz with 6 Noctuas cooling the fluid, it's not that it allows you to get a higher OC, but rather having it run cooler (in the 40s °C personally at full load), more silently and reliably.

ok, got it.

thanks for advice!!!

but custom cooling runs 3 times the cost of a no hassle solution such as the H100i?

I think is better wait until custom gpu. And maybe.... wait for a good deal for used 980ti like mine

Yeah.... Waiting for 3-4 months is a good idea to allow for the prices to drop and other companies like msi, zotac and Asus to come up with their custom GPUs...

looks like i have to wait for the custom GPU as Mr Nash Stated..

"What the hell is Founders Edition? Since it was specifically mentioned for Overclocking, one can assume it’s a better binned card. Unless you love the new reference cooler or need blower style cooler and absolutely want the best binned cards, it might be prudent to purchase the different SKUs from your favorite manufacturer. Chances are the factory overclocked model will have good binning, cost slightly more than MSRP, but less than the Founders Edition with better cooling!"

I never buy new components BEFORE THE OLD ONES CEASE TO FUNCTION.

If I did that, I would probably still be using my Celeron 300A based machine. Of course, nothing would run on that old of a machine. ;)

Hopefully the reviews will come soon to see exactly where it stands. To be honest I think 980ti owners are safe this year.

I'm not gonna upgrade from GTX 980 Ti to GTX 1080.

Maybe next year, the GTX 1080 Ti.

I grabbed a 2GB GTX 770 in fall 2014 as a relatively short term card when the GTX 970's were all sold out. Figured I'd just run that until the 1070 came and damn, I seem to have lucked out with that move. Even the 1070 is expected to smoke a 980TI and should be about the same price as the GTX970 too. Hurrah new architecture. :)

I don't plan to upgrade anything else, except maybe to a larger higher res monitor. I expect my I5-4690 to remain good for many years given that neither Intel nor AMD have shown any real movement on CPU's since 2011. There's bound to be a change at some point, but I haven't heard of anything.

I am so tempted to go for a 1080... damn... so tempted... but: this 1080 looks more like a trap. A slow transition from Maxwell to Pascal. They did not put HBM memory because in this case they might just blow away the stocks for old Maxwell cards. They are deliberated underrun this 1080 in this moment. In this moment I do trust more in AMD... their products, drivers, are more honest, no hidden "features" to improve graphics and fool people. AMD DX12 is really working. We need to see how this 1080 handles... but I remain reserved until next series of Pascal will come.

Don't get me wrong, Pascal itself is a monster, but here I was referring to 1080 implementation.

As long as Nvidia sits on the top of the mountain (and AMD financial problem) , i don't think they will

shoot themselves in the foot at releasing a such of increase of performance at lower price. :ermm:

Even though I have a 970 still in the box, I will end up with one of these, though probably not until Zotac or ASUS releases one.

I was just about to buy a 970 yesterday, as my 680 is dying. But then I saw the news, and I am going to wait for the 1070.

I think I'll wait and see what AMD Offers,

As for price,

It was expected, the Entire Chip is worth $5000, but 2/3 is only worth $599?

nVidia is selling them at a loss for fear of losing Discrete Marketshare to AMD.

fan boy much? still waiting to see if the 1070 gets the FULL 8GB or like the 970 and only 3.5 of "Full speed".It has been said AMD is not going to try and compete at the top end market but might drive prices even lower.

1070 will have the full 8 gb.

fanboyism has nothing to do with the obvious.

nVidia's Marketshare is about to take a dive due to consoles and AAA developers moving to the AMD Platform.

Tech demo's are designed to produce hype.... mission accomplished,

Like I said, I'll wait and look at reviews and realworld data.

AMD will have a Top End part, just not the same direction as nVidia.

nVidia, BIG GPU's, Less GPUs per Wafer, Less Yields, Higher Cost.

AMD, Smaller GPU's, More GPUs per Wafer, Higher Yields, Lower Cost.

AMD Polaris was not designed to be a HUGE GPU, It was designed to be scale-able via interposer.
