nVidia's Marketshare is about to take a dive due to consoles and AAA developers moving to the AMD Platform.

So the market share graph is going to do a double reverse hockey stick? It would be better for consumers if AMD closed the gap actually. The way this trend looks they are headed for being kicked out of the discrete GPU market. 82/18 is not sustainable.

Will be grabbing the 1070, maybe the 1080 once the Europe price is known.i can return it withing 30 days if I'm not happy with it too. With vr out and stuck on 270x it's a massive upgrade.

That said I hope Amd will come out with something that can at least tickle the 1070 at a good price. We need competition is this market, monopoly is never a good thing.

Power consumption Lower, Heat Output Lower, One 8 Pin Connector.

- 180W ain't lower, it's plain same as the 980GTX

- cooler ?? running at 48-50°C watercooled, it doesnt go cooler

- got plenty GPU power conns on my AXi, think 4 of them 8+8, plenty options.

Honestly, on 1440p and MOST airframes, there aint much more to gain in my world already way above true 100fps with High and Extreme settings.

I am waiting for VR to be really available and supported and the NV of that time in the future. Till then I stay 1440p and 980GTX.

What are your specs and game setting (are you running any mods like Mustangs no trees shadows) if I may ask? I have i7 6700k (not yet overclocked), 16 Gb RAM, 980GTX Ti, running at 1440p and DCS is running mostly at 50-70 fps jumping to 144 from time to time. I'm seeing some drops in fps (to around 40) when looking at large cities.

I am running all HIGH, vis to EXTREME, shadow MEDIUM and flat terrain , 512 cockpit res, MSAA 2x, 16x Anisoptronic,

Grass to 0, trees 9000, preload range max

If I dont OC the CPU I have about 25% less fps, depending on airframe.

Any WWII or early non-computerized frame flis way above 100fps, the worstis the Ka-50 that pressesme down to 50fps over Vegas, around 80-100fps max in Ka, average maybe 60-70fps.

It is very tricky, misclick one setting and you lost many frames or smootheness.

For now, no mods in any of the 3 DCS versions I have. All Vanilla for now

I'll wait real benchmarks and more infos on async computing hw lacks.

ATM I'm not interested in VR so the 2x performance for me is completely useless.

I want a 2x performance jump in dx11 :)

I'm flying since 1988 (Flight Simulator 3.0) :pilotfly:

Yes but we are talking about PC gaming here, not consoles. AMD is on the ropes in this segment.

Samples were sent out already and most places have them,

I saw tweets of different site's posting pictures of their shiny new 1080's all weekend.

AOS favors AMD and Async.

nVidia hasnt put much time into ASync Development.

they can say they do all they want,

Truth is, at least 4 of their engineers told others in press conferences that their GPU's doesnt rest as much as AMD's (Leaving cores idle/unused). so ASync isnt beneficial to their Architecture, so they wont put resources into developing it on a hardware or driver level.

If the VR performance gains are what they say they are, I'd be very tempted to upgrade my 970.

Those Said VR Gains are with Programs that Use the GameWorks API and the VR Works Featuresets.

You wont see those Marketed Drastic improvements in DCS.

Be forewarned, many that have cards in the 400 to 600 range will have to update their bios to be able to accept the cards. I went from a 570 to 980 and had to do that with my Alienware Aurora. It took some research and careful reading to do it successfully.
