Cobra360
I think people don't want to post in here because of what happens in most Tomcat related threads. But anyway, so long Tomcat. I going to miss not having any more Flighter Fling vids.:(

golfsierra2
Yeah, lets lock them and let their RWR beep. Zeros didn't have any RWR, it was the wing man you might have given a warning instead......... kind regards, Raven.... MBot
This 'The Final Countdown' footage is so great. That movie probably has the best in flight scenes of every flight movie ever and it is already 25 years old. After seeing that film in my youth I got the biggest Tomcat fan, even before seeing Top Gun. I read while filming the maneuver where the Tomcat pulls up realy hard in the Zero fight, the plane almost crashed. I heard that the screaming sound of the engine is a computerized version of the scream from the pilots wife when she first saw the footage :) Probably not true, but a cool story non the less :)
Guest IguanaKing
Zeros didn't have any RWR, it was the wing man you might have given a warning instead......... Those 'Cats fired AIM-9s at those T-6s (not actual Mitsubishi A6M2s), and even current fighter aircraft depend on a visual sighting to evade that type of missile as there is no warning on RWR...so his wingman would have been all he had even if they had been modern MiG-23s. Notice how the modern Tomcats even followed the old rule of approaching the potential enemy out of the sun? Its still a good visual tactic, not to mention giving the AIM-9 a better chance of not being distracted by IR backlighting. :smilewink:
