johnv2pt0 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I need to free up some space of my SSD. Versions of 1.5 and 1.5 Beta seem to be the same. Can I get rid of one or the other? Thanks ~
Art-J Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 It might be the same now (is it really?), but it won't be when the next update hits the servers. It's all down to Your preferences. Some prefer to run the beta, as it gets the new fixes first (and new bugs for that matter). Some prefer to stick with stable release. It's Your call. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
johnv2pt0 Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 Haven't checked in a bit...are mp servers running beta or stable? Thanks for the replies, not able to check right now.
Art-J Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Depends on the server really, but If You're doing lots of online, then it is important factor indeed, completely forgot about it. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
OldE24 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 you only need 2 installs if you also play nevada....YOU can switch between stable and beta with simple UPDATER commands but it's not recomended to go between 1.5 and 2.0. All the 1.5.3 "UPdates" work on MP weather it be stable or beta as of right now. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2548018 you just go to you DCS world bin folder and left shift right click in the file and find "open command prompt here" then you would DCS_updater.exe Update @stable/@Beta it's that simple 8700k@4.7 32GB ram, 1080TI hybrid SC2
QuiGon Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 What OldE24 said. One install for 1.5 is enough. It doesn't really matter if you choose the beta or the stable one, because like OldE24 said you can switch between them on the fly: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 If you want to play Nevada too, then you need the Alpha too. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
johnv2pt0 Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 I didn't know the switch between 1.5s was so easy. Thanks all, much appreciated
