Guest IguanaKing
Shhh...Don Ernesto isn't supposed to know I come here. :smilewink: I just started saving for my next system when I built my last, the better you build, the more you save before building again. I won't kill myself if it doesn't perform as expected. I'm still pretty pleased with my current system, so the new one won't be a disappointment. :D
britgliderpilot
No, I'd hate you if you posted a detailed, gloating story (with pics) about a joyride in a Javelin :P Right now I just wish I had some of your money . . . . and could escape this mysterious Don Ernesto, of course. Guys? Anyone feel like ripping off a drug lord? Get the Russians in on it . . . . we can't lose! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg

Guest IguanaKing
I wish I COULD provide video and pics of that BGP, but the cost of me and a second Mk16L lost out to a CCD camera mounted on a Zildjian cymbal stand behind the right-rear of the pilot's seat. Maybe I could have stuck an office chair in the rear pit, I've done that before in a stripped-down King Air. I'm still trying to get those flight test vids. I've seen them...but I just can't seem to get the video footage in a distributable form. Konny, bro's back from 'Stan, so I'll be sharpening up. Maybe you can show me where to find a server with clearly defined mission targets...that's been the main gripe for a non radar-hauling ground pounder like me with the on-line servers. BTW, BGP, as far as dealing in the Russian market is concerned. Japanese and American SUVs into Russia, Caviar out to the US. HUGE profits, but huge risks as well. walternowi
IguanaKing, Just a note of caution. The Zalman VF-700AlCu is not capable of handling the XTX1900. Get the VF-900 instead. Nice system overall. Guest IguanaKing
Thanks for the heads up, Walter. I'll just send them back then. A local supplier has VF900s all day long. I should have seen that, actually, since I recently installed a 900 on my A9800XT. That friggin' thing even helps keep the rest of my system cooler. :D I just added a 16X DVD+/-RW DL drive to my old system, which will get moved of course, and Starforce STILL didn't create a problem, in case anyone was wondering. :music_whistling:

Have you seen this thread? http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/1601002574 Well...because I am unashamed to admit that I am an ATI fanboy. :D I have always had ATI products in my machines, not one has ever let me down. I also like how the ATI chipsets are distributed among very few manufacturers. With the competition, well, you never know what you're going to get. ;) BTW...the board I chose is based on ATI crossfire, while preserving the Intel 975X chipset. Quite frankly, I haven't been all that impressed by NForce chipset MoBo's and their compatibility with many software programs, so SLI wasn't much of a consideration for me. G3
Maxtors? I'm sorry. :( have to agree, best set those maxtors up in a raid mirror, and get a spare. or backup anything you care about on one of Iguana Kings's seagates :) now who's being the fanboy.... dam, Iguana King, that sounds like a fantastic upgrade, obviously the dualcore isn't directed at lockon, but will be worth it for other things. good pickup on the zalmans walternowi. no doubt we all are keen to hear how things run on your new rig. probably still stutter over the cities as you drop flares :D keep us posted on your build please... Guest IguanaKing
Will do. I'm very excited to see the results it yields, and I'll certainly post them here. No prob with being a Seagate fanboy, ggg, I'm one myself. I've tried them all and Seagate is the brand that has not failed yet. It has outlasted two IBM deathstars by 2 years (yes, I am combining their service life before both of them failed). The only Maxtor I tried, it wouldn't even be worth mentioning except for the fact that it s**t the bed 3 weeks after I purchased it. I'm still kinda pissed at Maxtor, because that crappy drive (which was replacing my dying deathstars) made me think my system had contracted some kind of super virus that actually destroys hardware. I almost wrote off my motherboard because of that garbage. Maxtor? Never again!!!
G3
i don't wish to corrupt the thread into a hdd debate, all i will say is i've had similar experiences with other brands and always return to seagate. i once lost many gigs of backups on 2 partitions that just disappeared and have had other drives from the same manufacturer fail altogether. once bitten, twice shy as they say... for me brand loyalty is usually due to a good history with their products and nothing else, i am the same with asus m/b's. its funny, i guess its because you don't do it every day yourself but i often get somewhat excited over other peoples upgrades..... and good for you, i am somewhat green, from what you say your savings plan is a great idea, start as soon as you spend, all the power to you... SVK_Fox
Geforce card no! I choosed Geforce 7800 GS. I hoped that I will be able to make beeter videos with finest FPS with FRAPS. I had before ATI 9800 PRO. And I was dissapointed because, when I statted flying with geforce FPS was better, but until I started FRAPS. FPS locked on 8-10!!! And nobody - Geforce support and FRAPS team couldnt help mee. So If you want make videos choose ATI! If you want only play choose Geforce. Now I have Geforce and not so happy. And I also stopped production of my videos.

G3
I'll just go with personal experience. :D its hard to beat, and clear that everyones will differ to some degree. its hard to convince me without persuading me with facts. Seagate? LOL dude, I work at a computer workshop store, we build custom computers 24/7 and we will get atleast 2 people a day come in saying that their hard drives broke.....get my point? All my friends and buddys who work with me all got Maxtors and we love them, they got better performance than others anyways. It doesnt matter as long as you got a good computer with good protection. So in my opinion I am going to stick with what computer people recommend ;-P. should have bit my tongue, ok sure i get your point... drives fail, thats a given. my point is that in my experience, which is long and well versed, a particular brand has been very reliable while another brand or brands have been somewhat less than dependable, sometimes deplorable, get my point. this was about personal experience, i am puzzled why you laugh at seagate. it would be interesting to hear if you only sell maxtors, :P or is that 2 maxtors a day failing just amoungst you and your friends :D lol seriously, it would be great using the high turnover of your computer workshop store, if you can check out what kind of failure ratio the different brands have, it would be most interesting to have some additional data to contradict or backup my own findings. no bias, lets say a list of the failed drives along with their capacity and manufacturer over the next say 2 weeks, look forward to it. Nvidea for one needs to take energy from your power supply and ATI doesnt. Geforce needs an extra bit of air because they overheat to easily and ATI have their own specialized fans and heatsinks, yeah Geforce also got um but they dont work as well :). So as me being the computer specialist here, I think I know what I'm talking about! ? All new high-end GPU's require a seperate power source - not just nVidia - and X1900 series cards are much hotter than comparative nVidia-based parts.
