BSS_Sniper Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I've looked and found nothing useful. I have BS2 but my brother is coming back to DCS after a decent break from flying. He bought Black Shark 1 way back when it was released. He is wanting to upgrade it so that he can use it with the rest of us in DCS World. He sees the upgrade option in modules, in game but it does nothing. Does he actually have to pay again so that he can use it in DCS World along with the A10 and all the other aircraft? Again, we've gone through numerous posts and searches on line and found nothing useful. Any help is appreciated. Looney Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Have him buy the BS2 module complete is one of the flash-sales. I tried getting my BS1 through the update process but after numerous attempts at customer service of ED, failed miserably and ended up buying the BS2 module to be done with it. unknown Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Yes you have to pay either for the upgrade(BS1->BS2) or for the BS2 module again. I don't know if the upgrade from BS1 to BS2 is possible anymore but if you consider to pay again for BS2 then i would go directly for the BS2 module and not for the upgrade. I bought BS1 as it was released, then i bought the upgrade for BS2 to use it in DCS but i bought the BS2 module out of laziness because it was annoying to install first the orignal BS1 than to upgrade to BS2 everytime you did a fresh installation of DCS(DCS 2.x, 1.5.x, open beta....). Cibit Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The extra money you pay for standalone BS2 is worth not having the hassle of installing BS1 first, if you can still find your copy. Bungle_uk Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 You must have black shark 1 installed and activated in order to install the upgrade. I would agree though with buying the complete module in one of the sales. Gonna be less hassle in the future.
Yurgon Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 The Upgrade from BS1 to BS2 isn't available for purchase any longer (it was discontinued months ago, if not longer). Unless your brother already bought the upgrade (see above for advice on what to do in that case), the only option is to buy BS2 (Full version). If you're quick, grab it during the current summer sale that's still going on until the 20th. On a side note, the amount of changes from BS1 to BS2 is huge, as in HUGE. Basically, BS2 (and the A-10C) paved the way to DCS World, so I think it's only fair for ED to charge again, seeing as this was not just a small-ish update. :smartass:
BSS_Sniper Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 Thanks all. That's kind of BS, no pun intended, that you have to rebuy an aircraft after paying $50 in the beginning. He'll have $74 invested in Blackshark. Oh well, I'll let him know. DieHard Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 (edited) Well, I wanted to get away from the need to also have the store bought box version Lock-On on my computer. I had BS1 then BS2. That's why I bought the newer version BS2. Then... I forgot I made the switch to the newbie BS2 months ago and saw an item in Module Manager concerning the Black Shark and clicked on it. What it did was took me back to BS1 again. Had to fix that. Getting older into retirement years is not the great adventure I have been led to believe... Damn memory! Well, all the meds we take don't help either, but I'm still alive. Edited July 2, 2016 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
