The hunt for more FPS

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm currently running a GTX 780 and a i7 5820k overclocked to 4.5GHz.

I'm playing DCS with my HTC vive and I'm starting to think that my 780 is starting to bottleneck my computer.

Would my FPS increase much if I upgraded to 1080 or simlar AMD card? Thanks

there is no AMD similar card to the 1080

DCS is currently CPU bottlenecked, BUT!! if you don't run the game at super high settings, also don't run the game with trees turned all the way up and flat shadows off etc... a 1080 will for sure outperform a 780

I'm getting a 1080 as soon as the one I want is available... I suggest you wait for a good one (EVGA classified is the one I want for example), rather than just buy what's available now.

At normal flight I only see a 60% cpu usage on one of the cores. about 10% total CPU usage so I was thinking this was a GPU issue.

Something else is wrong. CV1 + 1080 and a 2600k at 4.6ghz

50%gpu load

20%cpu load and only 45-50 fps.

That might improve a little with a PCI 3.0 enabling CPU. i7 2600k limits "Data interchange bandwith" to PCI 2.0 specs.

Yipey!!

Ah sooo nice.

I fired up DCS 1.5 everything on max except trees and vis radius(will try that later)

Pixel ov. 2.0

I don't know how to post a picture here but...

It says 90fps :) :)

CPU (the right core) 61%

GPU 93%

I really thought that 2.0 would be better but apperantly not.

There is still no single GPU that'll use all the bw of a single 16x pcie 2.0 slot.

Even if 3.0 might have more available bandwidth...

Need 3way sli for that.
