1 - The cockpit backlight seem automaticaly enabled at startup (in hot start) from 18h (6PM)... however, in jully (for example), at 18h, it is daylight :)

2 - The rendering of cockpit backlight is very strange, as you can see bellow (first image), only the shadowed part is enlighted. This generates some strange behavior too. For example, in the second image, it is sunset, the cockpit light IS enabled (you can see some red on the VTH knobs), the sun is at back, and, since there is no more cast shadow, there is no cockpit backlight visible...

If you want test, configure a takeoff from Kobuleti at 18h01 near the junary 14...

The backlight is using ED materials that make them disappear when hit directly by sunlight.

As the cockpit lights turning on at 18H00, well. We are trying for you to have them working at dusk. We will fix them.

This is what i guessed, however i tested with the Mig29, and the Backlight works both for sun and shadowed...

This is not so anoying... here, it is anoying because of this ugly sun vs shadow effect + this strange exception at sunset (and sunrise, i suppose).

In real life the backlight would be invisible under direct sunlight, which this material is trying to simulate.

Remember that the backlight is intended to be used in the dark and its luminosity is quite low so it does not severely affect unaided night vision.

I agreed that, but i go further, in real life, in sunny day, the backlight would be near invisible even in the shaded part, because the ambiant light is bright enough to surpass the poor backlight, OR the backlight would be visible for both shaded and direct-sun because its light is very strong: this is why this is shocking here, we can't have this kind of contrast between direct-sun vs shaded part.

The real visual effect is something like follow:

- sunny light: backlight invisible to nearly invisibly in shaded part

- cloudy light: backlight barely visible (and in fact, it depends: overcast or some cumuls shadow is not the same thing).

- night: backlight very visible.

In 3D engines, except an excelent management of HDR, we have to cheat... (and, the HDR IS a cheat: a screen cannot visualy render the real dynamic range)

I can't understand why you feel this is a problem. It seems to me to be working exactly as it should.

Cause am a former 3D artist/dev, Some are familiar with aircraft's realism, i'am familiar with lighting & visual rendering's realism, some elements hits my eyes :D

Note: i would not make a scandal about that thing... i point it, since i saw it... this is not the thing that shock me the most at this time. (the padlock view + "attack my target" + Magic not slaved to radar are missing me much much more)

I guess you're in a unique position then, and I can see why it jars. There are however much more pressing concerns as far as I can see.

But I guess attention to detail is what has given us such convincing graphics in the first place.

yes, read my edit above... this is like the Hud heading tape mipmap filter and VTB missaligment, i see it, i corrects it, this is like SEGA, stronger than me :D
