?

Considering that all models of this quality are payware, its not your place to say something like that IMHO, respectefully.

damn i just went to sleep and wake up to find a crap load of models in this thread lol. 3d Roger you made all those?! If so, that's amazing but i thought you said you didn't do animations and such. Does that mean those models' wings, gears, flap can't move. If not, i think its ok, I'm sure someone can help with the animation and skinning.

Roger,

As mentioned already the Zubr is a very good candidate for Lock-on as there is a vacant "ship-slot" left over from Flanker(title) that would suit it perfectly.

If the model is finished(or when it is), I would be happy to help you integrate it if you like :) .

Cheers,

- JJ.

Hi Alfa nice to talk to you

yes the zubr model is finished - it is in parts in 3dmax , like all my models they are made from 3dmax primitives as editable meshes - the colors applied to my models mainly white and red are just max materials , to highlight parts eg flaps etc - all models are not uvw'd or skinned in 3dmax.

i can send you the zubr max file ,and you will receive exactly as the renders show , i can also send my modelling reference pics to aid skinning )

i am happy to release 1 max file at a time to trusted individuals , who have the skill and the tools to complete the required part naming of the model to lomacs requirements , to skin the model in max / lomacs skinning tools , and to import the model to the lomac format , which is a 1 way transfer from 3dmax 7 to lomac via the 3dmax plugin provided by ED.

i would request that my max files are not distributed across the web to any individual or web site , without my permission , basically i dont want my 3d max models appearing on say 3dcafe.com for free download by all and sundry .

i would also like a copy of the completed max file returned to me for safe keeping once completed - skinning / lomac conversion etc .

Please note i do 3d stuff as my hobby and for fun and for non profit , these are my only terms and conditions for sharing 3dmax files with trusted community individuals for the purpose of free lomac 3d modding

if these terms and conditions are acceptable , please contact me by msn chat to facilitate transfer of the 3dmax file online

sorry if this sounds a bit pompous ,but it explains my position re 3dmax file release .

I am grateful for any and all help from fellow community 3d 'ers

All the best

Roger :-)

Hi Roger,

I fully appreciate your conditions :) .

However, unfortunately I am not a seasoned modeller and thus not qualified for mapping your model or making animations of movable parts.

So my offer only concerns integrating a finished model into Lock-on, so that it appears in the best possible way in the game.

Sorry for the confusion :)

Cheers,

- JJ.

Just a heads-up, the real Tu-160 has an all-moving vertical tail while your model appears to have a conventional rudder.

Hi SuperKungFu , yes i did make all the models , they are 100% my own work , made from reference line drawings etc , the models are made from 3dmax primitives as editable meshes , 3d max colors mainly red etc mark out flaps and stuff on the models , i have never animated or skinned / uvw'd a model - i never learnt lol yet !!

i taught myself how to model ,badly at first i used to make below 3000 poly models for janes usaf flight sim , via 3dmax r3 via a one way p3d plugin exporter , i made a b52 and b1b which were skinned and released for free to fly in janes usaf .

i left janes usaf 3d modding behind a few years ago , and these days i just build stuff for my own fun , as a hobby .

None of the models shown in this thred were built for any specific pc game engine , and they were not built to any specific poly count , i have alot of really horrible low poly models here , that will never see the light of day becoz they are so bad - lol !

but its exciting to think i can build future models for lomac up to a 50,000 poly threshold - wow !

i try to build my models clean and i remove all hidden faces etc

i will need help from the community in the future re lomac conversion , skinning , animation etc - all help greatly appreciated , i am here for the long haul and to make cool 3d stuff for free for lomac , with the help of trusted and respected community members :-)

hope this explains and put some meat on the bones of where these models come from and why and how they were made , and a little of my history .

Just for the record i am no spammer , talk to me online , and you will find i am a very decent and genuine person :-)

or so my mum says lol - btw in 37 yrs young with a 1.5 yr old daughter )

  • 1 month later...

Sadly I suffered a hard drive disaster and lost the F-16 3D pit I was making :(

It is unlikely that I will ever to recover from that as my free time is something that will be increasingly scarce for me due to real life issues.

Thx for you attention anyway Roger.

Cheers.

aww that suck Pilotasso, well you made an effort and that was good

And nice site 3d Roger, hope to see some of your beautiful models in the game soon. Btw, have you consider modeling some of our flyable models? and maybe team up with some you trust to do the animations since i read your faq that you won't release the 3d max forum, and that is needed to make the animations.

hi Superkungfu , thanks for the compliment :-)

my position on releasing 3dmax files is related to publically releasing stuff for all and sundry to download .

you may or may not be aware that there are people out on the web that will steal 3dmax models if they are publically available ,and will add them to various pc game engines without seeking permission from the original 3d author , and without giving credit etc , i have seen it happen many times in various pc game communities where 3d modding can occur .

Often these stealing individuals are caught out , sometimes not !

Basically i will never publically release my 3dmax models for public download in their 3dmax file form, but that does not mean that i would not collaborate on a 1 2 1 basis with a trusted individual , that say takes 1 of my 3dmax files in order to skin , animate and lomac it , i would need assurances that said released 3dmax file would not be subsequently publically released to the web by said trusted individual .

www.3dcafe.com , used to be a place where free 3dmax models of varying quality could be freely downloaded , i don't want / and won't allow my 3dmax files to end up there for free download without my permission .

3d modelling is my hobby , but i don't put many 100's of hours into it , to allow myself to be ripped off etc

Basically i am just being sensible and protecting myself from this type of abuse .

You may notice i don't post here much these days - the reason for this , is because - i went public on my 3d models collection in this thread , i made my offer to contribute , and i have sat back awaiting genuine offers from the lomac community , to perhaps lomac some of my models .

I have stuck my head above the trench and waved my flag to say im around , i don't feel the need to do anymore !.

Basically i am getting on with my life and 3d hobby , and i am contactable via email , or to talk real time online re modding , and i am doing my new website .

so collectively if you need me etc , you know where and how to find me , i am not exactly hiding lol :-)

hope that clarifies , sorry if it sounds a bit harsh or big headed , its not meant to !

anyway regards and take care

Roger :-)

Don't feel bad that the community didn't offer their help, they would if they can, but there's only a few people out there that are talented enough to model. Or have the time for that matter. ED released the plugins that are necessary to add the models into lock on through 3d max, i believe it is a sticky in the 3d models discussion, plus only a few people visit this area so that's probably another reason why no1 offered. I would encourage you to find a person who you can trust to help bring these models into lock on, maybe test with one of your models like the Tu-160, since there is that model in the game that probably needs to be replaced. I'm sure you can find one person on the various 3d model forums that you can trust and is aware of the arguments needed for animations. You can also find some assistance on this forum http://www.lockon-models.com/index.php?act=idx and this site http://www.lockon-models.ch/homepage/jgs_portal.php Also, if you ever find the time to model something new, could you make a new F-15? The choice is completely up to you but a new F-15 model would do wonders for this sim. Thank you.

And P.S. Your post did not sound harsh or big headed, it was completely reasonable.
