NDB To-FROM

Hello guys, just have a quick question. Is there a way to tell if you're going TO or FROM an NDB? I was navigating to one, flew over it, and the radio compass didn't move (I thought it would spin 180).

That really is the only way to tell "To-From" on an NDB. If it's pointing in front of you or behind you. I have no idea why it wouldn't have spun after over-flying it. It should have.

 

Can you recreate this issue? And if so, take a video showing your NAV set-up.

The one that didn't seem to flip around was the Maykop NDB.

i tried a different one (Sochi) and the needle flipped around this time, so not sure what was happening. ill try it again.

Did you double check the morse code identifier to make sure you had it selected? Try both the Inner and Outer marker as well. That is kinda odd that Sochi worked though. Curious to know what you come up with.

still haven't gotten a chance to re-test yet, but it wasn't the runway ndb's, rather the one off to the south-east on 682.

 

and the morse code confuses me a bit because it never seems to match up, but then again half of the references out there have incorrect info.

 

and sweet can't wait for the campaign! i think i'll be comfortable enough by then with the mig to try it out :pilotfly:

also, i watched that vid, very informative! was that you talking? very cool about all of your ratings! i started taking flight lessons in 2003, and got my private in 2005 when i turned 17. then went to the air force academy, ended up leaving, and haven't flown much since :(

but very cool you worked your way up the ladder, maybe in another life!

Check the 682 NDB after yesterday's update. I did in custom mission and on my end it works allright (the needle flipped fine).

haha no not at all, really enjoying all of it. just started the mig version as well, so have two campaigns going at once. crazy, i know :joystick:
