Thisdale Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) Hey guys, Been using a Obutto R3v for the past year now and absolutely love it. It,s one of those amazing purchase for your gaming experience (mostly sim, but other games/comfort as well). I got their Hotas kit as well, with joystick at center position (between legs). I use the Warthog Thrustmaster Hotas, which i love as well. However, the Joystick is too high. It becomes mostly appearent when you try to do precise maneuvering like tight formation flying, hovering or refueling. I've been trying to find a good extension kit that would work well for the Obutto, but i'm having some difficulty. I'm like a S-type extension so that i can keep the Joystick's base, on the Obutto hotas kit, but i can't seem to find anything? Anyone has a suggestion? Essentially, this(which as far as i know, is not available): Edited August 27, 2016 by Thisdale http://www.youtube.com/konotani Computer Specs: Z97X-gaming Mobo 4670k i5 24G DDR3 GTX 1080 Asus PG278Q Rog Swift 27-INCH G-SYNC Valve Index Thrustmaster Warthog Fanatec Clubsport Pedals (used as Rudders) Thrustmaster T300 Arcantera Wheel Obutto R3volution rig
hansangb Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I think the curve limits you. If you forgo that option, you can pick from Sahaj's extension, or Milan's (of MFG rudder fame) extensions. I think SimPit (in New Zealand) makes a set as well. But none of them have the curve. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Thisdale Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) Well in my case, due to the cockpit, i can; 1: Put the joystick over the seat (as it is now) but be much higher. This basically prevents me from using an extension. 2: Put the joystick "under" and "forward" from the seat position. This allows me a much better extension possibility. But puts the joystick further ahead than i want (at Knee position). That's why the curve is important in my case. It will bring the joystick back to its intended position, while the base can be further ahead, under/in front of the seat. Here with my extreme drawing talent. Small red= my current situation Long red= what i'd like to avoid, while using an extension S green= what i look at accomplishing. hansangb Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I know people have used PVC piping to create unique solutions. But even the VKB one may be too tall for you. Maybe Sahaj can create a custom one for you? Give him a shout, maybe he can build one for you. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Sokol1_br Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) Essentially, this(which as far as i know, is not available): http://www.gostratojet.com/Stick_Extension/images/Extender_6.jpg But this extension is not solution for Warthog base , is compatible only with VKB base - can use Warthog grip through a adapter. hsth Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 For me it helped putting the pedal tray most forward position and flat as possible. The Crosswinds do fit niceley and it keeps the knees down. Also, because old age? :-) I use a flat pillow in the seat so I sit a bit higher. That gives enough room to use the Sahaj 7,5 cm extension so the stick feels smooth.
McG Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 If you were to get a piece of tubing the same width as the Sahaj or MFG extensions, you could get it cut to the desired length and angled the way you want using a pipe bender. You'd then need to get it threaded at either end. I think Deadman has a real A-10 stick and column. He might be able to post details of the column height and bend angles. Debolestis has a tail piece adapter in his Shapeways shop that angles the Warthog grip forward to get the CoG of the stick sitting over the centre of the gimbal if using a curved extensions
FeistyLemur Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I've been waffling back and forth on getting a revolution for some time. But with the accessories and shipping it comes down to like 1800 dollars here. Decisions decisions.
hsth Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Ah well, can't decide for you of course but I never regretted it a moment. The R3V is a great piece of equipment for normal work and gaming. Took some time to adjust to my likings after the initial setup but now it fits like a glove.. :-)
