FeistyLemur
Funny, with my interest in cncs and 3d printing lately I've been thinking how a sliding throttle like the one in the SU27 cockpit using steel rails and linear ball bearings would be super smooth. I wonder if that's what thrustmaster did here or if it's another grease and plastic setup like the WH stuff.
Sokol1_br
You are being too optimistic. :) "Steel rails and linear ball bearings" in a 80$ throttle: ? Made by Thustmaster for entry level market? :D Not even in their ~400$ hardware they use any kind of bearings.

FeistyLemur
Well, there's steel rails in the Warthog, and bearings would have cost probably 10 cents a piece on the volume TM would have ordered them. I ordered a dozen for 7 bucks from hong kong for my little scheme. It's probably teflon bushings on metal rails I suppose. Which honestly might not work all that bad. It looks like it has a lot of buttons and even a wheel on one side which is neat. Edited September 4, 2016 by FeistyLemur
Sokol1_br
.. and bearings would have cost probably 10 cents a piece on the volume TM would have ordered them. Yes, sliding bearings are very cheap in China, but joystick industry always looks for more cheap options. If Tm use Teflon bushing over steel rod is good, in CH Throttle is plastic sliding over plastic. If not plagued by G-940 like "shortcuts" this Tm TWCS will be a success. :)

Under this point of view a chance that you are just exchanging 6 for "half dozen" - or less, because Thrustmaster TWCS use more cheap versions of potentiometers than used by CH. :) TWCS user "impressions" video: Edited October 3, 2016 by Sokol1_br
ebabil
My ch throttle always jitters and loses centering too. So I don't think a throttle can be worse . But I will wait and see what can I do about tm warthog FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 | Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15E| F-4| Tornado Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60 Youtube MS FFB2 - TM Warthog - CH Pro Pedals - Trackir
Sokol1_br
TWCS video review. Fortunately is not another of this YT "unboxing" BS, in this at least is show axis behavior in software*, and a superficial view of internals. The hyped S.M.A.R.T. has a bit of stiction (a la Warthog stick). * Compare with CH PRO throttle: Edited October 31, 2016 by Sokol1_br

Steel rails and seems to be linear bearings as well. This throttle looks like the same setup from what I can tell in the pics and it also looks like the pedals can plug directly into this for a unified single setup. Highspeed EDIT: The pedals actually would plug into the joystick depicted on one of the pictures (the "Gladiator" if I'm not mistaken) so the unified connectivity may or may not be an option after all depending on what stick you have. Sokol1_br
Well, in the video (~23:00) the mechanism don't looks use linear bearings, need a more in depth review to know for sure. :) Yes, the Tm TFRP pedals can be plugged in base of TWCS throttle making then one device for Windows/games. Thrustmaster call this "Ecosystem". The throttle is already show as 8 axis device in Windows = 5 in throttle + 3 reserved for pedal. What will complicated merge then in TARGET with T.16000M FCS stick due DirectX axis limit of 8. TWCS+TFRP+FCS = 12. With some DIY will be possible hook old pedals, like Tm, CH gameporte or G-940 (this is without controller) or even homemade in this TWCS RJ connector, making a adapter cable similar to this: http://shop.thrustmaster.com/en_gb/db9-pedals-t-rj12-adapter.html EDIT: The pedals actually would plug into the joystick depicted on one of the pictures (the "Gladiator" if I'm not mistaken) so the unified connectivity may or may not be an option after all depending on what stick you have. VKB Gladiator have similar RJ connector for pedal in their base, but only accept pedal with MaRS digital sensor (VKB T-Rudder, VKB RDR), so is not compatible with TFPR that use analog potentiometers.
