VSN flyable aircraft mods

Recommended Posts

Found this post on yt comments section Thanks to the OP if it works.

Cold start Procedure (found out by trial and error):

1. ground power

2. connect ground air

3. apply ground air

4. left & right generator both on Ext (right horizontal panel)

5. booster pumps left & right (left horizontal panel behind throttle)

6. Left Engine Master Switch On (left horizontal panel on the right of the throttle)

7. Engine Start selector to the Left (same panel), wait for the engine to spool up

8. request again to Apply ground air

9. Right Engine Master Switch On (left horizontal panel on the right of the throttle)

10. Engine Start selector to the Right (same panel), wait for the engine to spool up

11. Set both generator switches to On

12. disconnect ground air & power

13. Set Engine Start selector to Neutral

Good to go! Greetz, "Vinchante"

@VincentSmit

I think the mod could be a bit more refined, but, I am glad to have it.  Thanks VSN for all your work.

Edit: here is another post suggesting axis tuning.  No idea if correct: This plane definitely needs you to properly bind and tune axis and fly with a steady hand, you can't throw it around like you would the F-16. 1Bind the following axes• PITCH (DEADZONE AT 4, SATURATION X AT 100, SATURATION Y AT 100, CURVATURE AT 10)• ROLL (DEADZONE AT 4, SATURATION X AT 100, SATURATION Y AT 100, CURVATURE AT 10)• RUDDER (DEADZONE AT 0, SATURATION X AT 100, SATURATION Y AT 100, CURVATURE AT 10

The procedure is correct, but the Air Apply is not simulated and hence not needed, the Mod only requires the Air to be connected, no need to apply it.

Yes I have the same opinion. Maybe with time it can be refined.

I really like having the F4 cockpit and radar and that they stay away from FC3.

A bit late to the party - just picked up the F-4 and tried it out. All in all, it's an interesting mod and has a lot of potential. Kudos to the developers!

Anyone playing this in VR??? There's a whole lot of shaking, in the air, on the ground, and even when the engines are turned off. The flight model doesn't bother me - I like the challenge of testing the limits of what I can get away with. But this shaking is ruining the experience for me. Anyone else experience this? Anyone have a solution?

I use VR, but I don't have that problem that you indicate.

What staggered me are the geometrically distorted side panels in VR. Some of the gauges are even oval!? I don’t get the point of that. Is that an optimization for 2D screen representation for better readability?
It is obvious that a lot of love went into that cockpit modelling. Hoping for a little love for VR users too. Would be a shame if that gorgeous work on the cockpit would only be meant for pancake displays.

Like I said before I really like the work of the developers, but I'm having a hard time controlling the device;
It rears violently towards the vertical (you can do the "Cobra" easy), it needs constant inputs to fly level (even with the autopilot), spins impossible to recover...

Is anyone having the same problems?

Hi,

Just edited a Cold Start Training mission for this Mod:

Will upload the mission to User Files, but I will try first to expand on it by adding a take-off and landing mission first 🙂

Cheers,

Eduardo

Hi Rudel_chw,

Do you have a link to the project discord. This one doesn't give me any content. Or is there another place where the updates have been posted?

Thanks,

Doc

Hi guys,

Does the VSN F-4 have IFF at present? I did not see one in the bindings but maybe I missed it. IFF would be at the top of my wishlist for the VSN F-4.

Also, I tried to bind the missile station selector to the stick, but only the "next weapon" seems to work. I was hoping to be able to switch to the left/right AIM9 stations quickly, but now I all I can do is go around the circle and that means I have to take my eyes off target. Has anyone managed to get those bindings working??

No, it doesnt. The real F-4B didn't had one as originally built, tough several IFF iterations were added later as retrofits.

For those that don't know, its night and day difference between last weeks FM and the patched version...I went from killing myself to killing migs in a dogfight...In a 4v4 I got 3 of em  which was not possible for me in the old version. Having a ball now with it.

Very interesting. How did they ever think of employing an AIM7 if they had to visually identify the target. Makes the whole (BVR) missile concept kinda useless.

I guess that's one of the reasons why the rules of engagement in Vietnam were so strict.
