Spacehamster Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 The radar won't switch on for me. I have: -waited 5 minutes in stand-by mode. -performed self-test in standby mode, which completed. Something bugged or am I overlooking something?
QuiGon Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 You turn the radar on by putting the RV62-switch (the one below the red light) in the upper position? QuiGon Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 It did for the past ~2years :D Haven't flown the bird recently though. I'll check later when I'm home. Spacehamster Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 I have not flown it for a few weeks. And using the same procedure it will never switch on for me. The background is bright and lit but no symbols showing up.

The background is bright and lit but no symbols showing up. The backroung lits up if you switch it on? Just the symbols are still missing? That sounds like it isn't warmed up, but you said you put the radar to standby for 5 minutes (center position of said switch) which should be sufficent. Weird  Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Spacehamster Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Well I tried two different methods. 1. The usual ghetto method was to simply turn it ON (not stand-by, but ON directly) even before the electrical systems are on, then it would eventually appear ready after several minutes. 2. Waiting a full 5 minutes in stand-by then switching it on. I only tried method two this week after I noticed the regular method does not work at all. But it won't work either.
QuiGon Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) Maybe you need to be in the air for the radar to work. I've never tried it on the ground. And just to make sure: Switches RH49-RH56 (as per manual page 42) are on with the exception of RH54 which should be off? And the engine should be running of course. Spacehamster Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Yes, that whole panel is switched on, except for the red marked aux switch. And self-test works too. But there are never any symbols showing up when on

Spacehamster Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Yes, tried it while flying too. Is it working for anyone else?
Spacehamster Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 radar is working perfectly normal here. Did you start it up yourself or start on runway?
probad Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) from coldstart i put it on standby while the engine is spooling and flipped it on in the air Edited September 28, 2016 by probad
Art-J Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Record and post a track of some short mission, with full startup and intercepting some friendly planes flying around ("Cold Start" Instant Mission for example), 'cause we are not getting anywhere. If the replay track runs OK (the MiG ones are quite reliable), we'll see if You're doing anything extraordinary. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
marcinj Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Both inverters and generators (DC and AC) are on? (of course with engine running ;))

QuiGon Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 (edited) I tested it and it works well here. Cold startup, switched radar to standyby after takeoff and after some minutes of flying around I switched radar on. PitchBlack Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Sorry to warm this thread up, but I have experienced a non-working radar while accidentally switched from standby to off. After this has happened radar won't come up again.
BadHabit Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 If u switch back form STBY or On to Off, don't immediatly switch back on. Give it some time to warm up again. Works for me. PitchBlack Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Thanks you for your kind advice, but I switched the radar to standby for quite a while and afterwards I switched it back to on, but to no avail. Anyway, not a serious problem because it works most of the time without any flaws. Think it was just a glitch.
gulredrel Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Noticed the same as PitchBlack. Radar in stby after engine startup. Switched it on in the air and it was working. going back to off or stby and later back to on, it refused to work. Also tried off position several minutes and than warmup phase. That didn't help.
