Hey guys, i want to switch from the Steam to the standalone version.

I think i can use the game keys of my plane there aswell right?

I also want to know how i can save my controls. Just save the DCS folder in "saved games"?

Thank you for your help.

Using the DCS_Updater.exe and a LocalSource File,

You can run the updater and it will copy a majority of the files from the steam install folder,

From there you just need to make sure your license keys are bound to your ED Login,

Launch DCS, Login, and Module Manager will download all the Modules,

Or you can use the Updater Utility to install modules.

Unless you specify a new Folder using dcs_variant.txt, the new install will use the same /Saved Games/DCS/ Folder for all user saved content.

Easiet Method to Convert from Steam Distribution to ED Distribution:

1. Create a new DCS World Folder, Then Create a /bin/ folder within that folder.

2. Create a dcs_local_source.txt file in the new DCS World Folder, containing the path to the steam install folder.

*(Usually C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/DCS World/)

3. Download the DCS Updater Application from: http://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

4. Extract and place in the new /DCS World/Bin/ Folder

5. Run the Following Commands in Command Prompt from the New DCS World/Bin/ Folder:

DCS_updater.exe init EN

(Replacing EN w/ Another Language if English is not Primary Language)

DCS_updater.exe install WORLD

(This will Install the Base DCS World)

6. Install Any Modules You Own.

There's 3 Ways to Do this:

Option A: Make sure all license keys are bound to your ED Login (http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com , Profile, License Check),

If All Licenses are Bound, Launch DCS, Login on the main menu, then click on module manager and follow instructions.

Option B: Use the Command Line Installer Options

Option C: Use the GUI Updater Utility:

dcs_updater now can see the Steam version without a LocalSource File

CrazedPilot, just start DCS installation and updater will find Steam files

Did you follow this ?

did, but my dumb ass missed the huge "Transfer Licenses" button!  Now it's done, so I guess I have to reinstall.  it's all good, though, as I have a gigabit connection, so maybe 20 minutes?

Thanks so much for the help.  Still no successful traps, but my last few attempts have been bolters, which is far better than crashing into the stern of the boat!
