RhineHornet Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Fantastic achievement of the whole team. Followed the event on facebook. Great to see this beauty flying again and oh that sound! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HiJack Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Yes. I'm hoping for a really good heritage flight next year with Spitfire, F-86, F-104, F-16 and F-35
Plagi_Arism Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I love that music. The noise of the engine. :music_whistling: Thanks for the video  May the THRUST be with you

QuiGon Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Nice to see a Startfighter up in the air again. Is it the only airworthy Starfighter in the world? Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
drPhibes Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 It's the only airworthy one in Europe, but there are a few flying in the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfighters_Inc Unfortunately, yesterday wasn't just a day of celebration for the small Norwegian warbird community. 2 L29s (out of only 10 registered jet warbirds in the country) were lost in a hangar fire. Only one of them was insured :(
NeilWillis Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Great to see another restoration project culminate in an airworthy museum piece. Now there's a Starfighter in Scandinavia, does this give Leatherneck an excuse to start development? I sincerely hope so! Terrible blow hearing about the L29s however. I guess the remaining 8 just became much more precious.

WinterH Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 first picture at the beginning is horrible. almost no wing. Well that's F-104 for you : almost no wing :D It is the only aircraft I can't ever decide whether it looks ugly as hell or kinda cool. Plagi_Arism Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 first picture at the beginning is horrible. almost no wing. Yeah. That's why they called Starfighter. It flies like a rocket. Looks like a rocket. It does not need wing in the space. :D May the THRUST be with you
ebabil Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Well that's F-104 for you : almost no wing :D It is the only aircraft I can't ever decide whether it looks ugly as hell or kinda cool. with wingtip fuel tanks or whatever, it looks super sexy, especially form top or bottom. without it, looks horribly ugly. there are many of them in Turkey placed in various locations as memorial planes hasegawa model: FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 | Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15E| F-4| Tornado Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60 Youtube MS FFB2 - TM Warthog - CH Pro Pedals - Trackir 5
WinterH Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Contrarily, I think it looks quite worse with wingtip tanks, but that's just me. Yeah, they are all around the place here in Turkey :D You don't see any other type as gateguards or park ornaments but, F-104 is a frequent sight in most cities. Though, first photo you post is interesting in that it seem to have it's nozzle intact, almost all of the ones I've seen had their engine removed. At least Harbiye and Koç museum examples in İstanbul, as well the gateguard near Antalya airport all are that way. Automan Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 I don't want to open a new F-104 lovers thread, so I'm posting this video here.
