Schmidtfire Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 The radar-ranging sight on F86F works great for me. Hold the electrical caging button, get a lock on bandit, release, put the pipper on the bandit. Easy kill. But when Im using the F5E sight, all I seem to get after a lock is "In Range" cue. No lead calculation and the sight won't expand or shrink depending on distance. I have tried all the modes and I cannot make it work good for air-air... Don't know what I am doing wrong. Same with bombing, where it's way easier with F86F due to automatic release. Isn't the sight on the F5E supposed to be at least as good as the sight on the F86F?
Ktulu2 Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 F-5 piper doesn't shrink, it has a range in 1000s of feet. Are you sure you are in the right reticle mode (AA1)? Change it below the hud. I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public
Kev2go Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 (edited) for me the f5e is better. because it's rely on an actual radar I find its lead is more reliable and you don't have to hold any electrical cage buttons. besides the 20mm are far more lethal than the 50 calibers. makes em feel like peashooters I do however find the sabre easier to bomb with its automated Ccrp however with enough practise you can still be lethal especially since f5e has a much superior bomb load. I also should add that I manually bomb with the sabers automatic mode because u seem to get better results than using a fully automatic deploy. Cebo Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 on bombing, is it possible to use fuse with a delay e.g. 2s or so? i keep blowing up myself doing low level bombing
nomdeplume Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 on bombing, is it possible to use fuse with a delay e.g. 2s or so? i keep blowing up myself doing low level bombing I think the tail fuze is the delayed fuze for all bombs, so try setting the bomb fuze to only tail and see how that goes. I think the delay is around 2 seconds.
drPhibes Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Are you using regular or retarded bombs? The Mk82 Snakeye should reduce the chance of blowing yourself out of the sky.
Chrinik Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 on bombing, is it possible to use fuse with a delay e.g. 2s or so? i keep blowing up myself doing low level bombing No....but you should use Snakeeyes for that anyway. Schmidtfire Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 Go for Mk82SE. Switch the sight to manual. Try setting the reticle to 80. Go into a 20 degree dive, place the sight over whatever you want to erase. Retard the throttle and/or use airbrakes. Release bombs from around 1500ft.
