[Official] SimShaker for Aviators

Recommended Posts

Hello. I cannot seem to avoid a jolt when a missile hit me. Another jolt when I spawn on the ground in the beginning of a mission. My wife yells at me for that. Disabling respective effects does not help. Any ideas?

Hey there,

I have a strange problem. I have been using Simshaker Beta for a while now and everything worked perfectly. Since my computer crashed randomly, the beta wont start anymore. The taskbar icon appears, but when i hover over it or try to open it, it disappears. The stable works fine, but does not yet have Mi24 support. I have reinstalled the beta several times, but nothing seems to fix it. Also trusted the file with norton etc.

Any advice on what the problem could be?

Looks like my kernelbase.dll file is missing or broken. I am getting this error in the event viewer.

@impalor    Try to reduce the overall vibration level.
In general, when I first used a vibrocape when bandit hit my plane, I almost "ejected" from the chair. 🤣

My overall vibration level is fine. I have some effects on some modules near 0 and others near 100, to sense all of them the way I want. The problem is why I feel damage when it is disabled and why there is a huge jolt on ground spawn!? From the screenshots in my post it seems the culprit of the latter problem is LG Moving signal for all three gears arriving at once. Disabling Landing Gear effect eliminates the jolt, but I cannot live without it.

Could the devs work with ED to fix this? Or maybe filter them out if all gear signals arrive so close together? @f4l0

 Oh I feel you, that jold when spawning then must be the aircraft falling into its wheels. Maybe a temporary solution is turning the effect OFF, spawning, and before beginning taxi, alt+tab and activating the effect again.

In VR that is too cumbersome! But I have a better solution for SP: an AHK script that mutes my sound card for 5 seconds after Pause is pressed. It does not help in MP unfortunately, unless I remember to press that button just before respawning. And I can't avoid the jolt when a missile hits ((

DCS does not give clear data if you rejoin/start a flight, respawn or so on. Thus the initial state in SSA might not be the same state as in DCS. Thus once the connection is established and the internal state gets updated/synced some effects might play... I'll at this on my watch/todo list. Maybe I'll find a good workaround in the future...

There might be a log file in your settings folder, it should be here: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\SimShaker for Aviators

I guess, if we see too much abrupt LG status change, we should be on the alert.

Somehow my jetpad doesn’t get any signal from SS but there are no error messages or anything (as far as I can tell or maybe I’m looking at the wrong place). I tried to reinstall it once with the new stable version once with the new beta version but didn't work. The Gametrix test button works but not the SS test button. SS recognizes my jetpad and has the status ok. It worked in the past but then I stopped playing DCS for a while and now it doesn’t work anymore. Am I doing something wrong or am I forgetting something?

So it works again with this firmware guid https://simshaker.com/guides/firmware/ just for someone who has the same problem.

I commented a couple weeks ago about getting SoundBlaster card to show as an ASIO target, and was suggested to use ASIO4ALL. I've since tried that and am having no luck there, either. But I'm writing about a different problem:

For the longest time, I wasn't able to get SSA to work at all on 2 channel. Everything would test fine, but when DCS was launched, an unhandled exception error would show, and the only option that would stop it from recurring would be to quit it; and then no sound/effects from DCS. I finally got it to work with an un/re-install and a restart or two. It's been working great in two-channel and I've dialed in all my aircraft.

But then I thought I'd do something smart and switch the target of launching shortcut from dcs_updater.exe to dcs.exe, because I was tired of having to acknowledge the "update dcs yes/no" query whenever I wanted to fly (I'm in VR, and my desktop is behind my sim chair, requiring me to twist around 180 degrees and take off the headset to do so). But since switching the launch syntax, I'm back to "unhandled exception" errors every time dcs launches when ssa is active. The most recent string of errors are around a socket being accessed in an un-allowed fashion; sorry I don't have the exact wording, and I'm unable to find any log files in the SSA install folder, or "documents/simshaker for aviators".

Anyway, I was going to attempt another un/re-install, hoping that my tampering with the dcs launch shortcut had somehow changed the permissions or something. Buuuuuut, I also don't want to have to re-tweak the effects levels in all my aircraft, as I had to after my last reinstall. Where would I find the configs for the individual aircraft? Looking through SSA locations in the install folder, the documents folder, and AppData folder have yielded nothing that looks like aircraft configs.

Or...

Is there a better way to deal with the fact that SSA throws errors and fails every time it's called? Judging from the several times this type of error has been discussed on this forum before, It doesn't appear to be easy to troubleshoot...

TIA,

Erik

Not gonna answer any SSA questions, but is there a reason you don't use Skatezilla's excellent (mandatory for me) launcher/updater app?

Looks like a power switch moving contact failure. Good news that it's got fixed in the ON state 🙂

hey guys.

i have the seat for a few months now and i love it!

a few days ago, i actually noticed that there is no ground bump effect anymore. i am not really sure since when this is gone, but i know that it worked when i first used the seat. what also doesnt work is touchdown vibration, neither in the f16 nor in i.e. the hind.

i made some custom settings in the SSA app, one profile for every of my planes and helos, but i didnt turn of any setting.

besides of that, everything works fine; afterburner, g forces, weapon release, gun, flaps, turbulence, speed breaks, even gear up and down works. i think because of that i can safely say that it is not a mechanical failure of the jetpad.

i am always updating the SSA. has there been some change on an update last time? any suggestions?

alright i think i have a mechanical failure 😞 only 3 vibration motors work when i test them with the SSA tool … i will have to investigate further tomorrow, cause indont have much time today, but is there a chance that this is a known problem @=Andre=?

i will measure the contacts tomorrow, but so far i cannot see anything obvious, like loose strips etc

That stack trace points to an error parsing an XML configuration file... maybe one was corrupted when your computer crashed?

I'm seeing a folder holding config stuff in "<user>\Documents\SimShaker for Aviators", that has a "Soundmodule.cfg" that is XML... and then a config file in the install directory that is XML (SimShaker for Aviators beta.exe.config).. could you try moving those to your desktop (as a backup, vs deleting) and see if it runs ok?

I had a similar issue: one motor stopped working. It was an hardware failure, Andre sent me a replacement part and I sent to him the faulty one. Just a couple of tin weldings and a new electronic board, an easy fix. But you should check with Andre if your fail is the same of mine.

alright, thank you!

i am currently doing more research: with the JetSeat app, and there on the Test section, only 3 motors are working: 3, 4 and 6. 1 and 2 (4 motors in total) are completely dead, so absolutely no vibrations under my butt 🙂 same for 5.

just out of curiousity, i guess it was the main platine in the middle that was faulty?

Hi. I've been using Simshaker with my buttkicker for a while. Works great. Andre's software is excellent. I'm wondering if you guys could help me out. I recently started using iUFCExport on my old iPad. I had to add two lines of script to my Export.lua file. I know next to nothing about scripts/programming. When I added the two lines for the iUFCExport install info, the iUFCExport works but the Simshaker doesn't. If I delete the two lines, put it back the way it was, the SimShaker works fine again. I'm convinced I just need to figure out how to write the Export.lua file to use both at the same time. This is what I have at the moment:

local SimShakerlfs=require('lfs'); dofile(SimShakerlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/SimShaker.lua')
dofile(SimShakerlfs.writedir()..[[Scripts\SimShaker-export-core\ExportCore.lua]])
local iUFClfs=require('lfs');
dofile(iUFClfs.writedir()..'Scripts/iUFCExport.lua')

If I only have lines 1 and 2, the SimShaker works fine. If I have all four lines in, only the iUFCExport works. Thanks for the help.

In my case it was the top motor behind the left shoulder. It fried, and its related microresistor (or was it a capacitor?) on the electronic board fried with it. I don't remember if the problem was the motor first and the electronic component as a consequence, or the opposite, but according to Andre changing both would have solved, and so it was. Since I was not able to solder a microsomething, Andre sent me a new electronic board along with the motor, but asked me to send him back the broken parts. To tell the truth, the best support I ever had on an electronic device, even more considering Andre is from Russia and I am italian, so we do not live particularly close to each other. That said, you have more than one motor faulty, so I fear your problem is bigger than mine, but I'm sure Andre can sort out yours too. Try to send him a private message...

P.S. the motors under the seat are linked in couples, so the device reads two motors as if they are one. I.e. you have 4 motors under the seat, but functionally they work as if they were 2.

I've been trying to stick with vanilla installs, as I've had problems in the past; and once you just add every single thing from the get-go, it's a mother to diagnose. As it stands, I have multiple issues and am glad I haven't added more than necessary for flight and VR.

That said, thanks for the suggestion; I'd used OVME before (and will probably do so once my current bugs are worked out), and Skateailla's launcher looks good as well.

grazie mille! very useful information 🙂

glad i am an electrical guy, i will take my fluke off from work today and measure to see if there is power on the electric vibration motors, i will also check the electric connections between the connector and the board. i am pretty sure that i can identify where the problem is.
