[Official] SimShaker for Aviators

Is there an ability to set the jetpad to react to YAW?

I'd like to have a setting (think WW2 birds) where the further away the rudder/yaw ball gets from the center the greater the feedback in the seat on that side.. so you can tell just by feel that you are out of trim/diving and to apply rudder till it stops.   And something like the G-feeling slider on the Special Options tab where you can set a deadzone min/max for yaw.

So what's with the SSA ?  Today I noticed that the jetseat wasn't working anymore. Upon inspection it seems that SSA doesn't load anymore. Everything was fine yesterday...

When I click it, an icon appears in the system tray, however, when I hover over it, it disappears. So the programm has already quit without taking away the icon. I donwloaded the last version (beta) and installed it. I lost all my profiles (:(), but the JetSeat worked again (exept for the motors under my left leg I found out !!)

Five minutes ago, again the same software issue. It runs and quits immediately without any message. Always worked fine before.

About the motors, I opened the Jetseat, but no lose wires and no visual problems on the controller.

@MarcT-NL another person had a similar problem a couple of pages back and was resolved by deleting the files in the user folders and reinstalling.

Try this one, it helped me:

Did you check if SSA dumps out any log? They can be found in the installation folder and in the documents / SSA folder. Usually this "silent" dying comes from corrupted files. Did you remove/move all SSA files? Especially the files in the documents folder... Maybe you should backup the Settingsdatabase.bin

Oh wait. The is a folder in my documents called SimShaker for Aviators.

OK, I have de-installed SSA, and delete this folder in my documents.

I restarted the PC and re-installed "SimShaker for Aviators Beta Installer v2.3.13". Mind you Windows gives my messages about untrusted software and I have to click YES several times before it will install

After install I start SSA Beta, but same problem: the icon appears in systemtray, but app quits immediately.

There is no new folder in my documents.

I don't get it. It worked fine for over a year, Could this have anything to do with 2 motors not working ?

There is also a simshaker for aviators folder in your user\appdata\local folder. That might need to go too?

OK, Still the same.

De-installed SSA

Deleted SSA from local

Restarted PC

Installed SSA Beta

Restarted PC

Found SSA in C:\Program Files (x86)\SimShaker\SimShaker for Aviators Beta

Didnot find something in Documents or in Local

Started SSA -> Quits immediately

Can you also go to user/app data/local folder in windows and look for simshaker there?

I would uninstall it via Windows control panel and then delete and references to it in app data and then check your drive for anything simshaker related and get rid of that too.

I also wonder if there is a windows registry key sitting there causing issues.

Yes, that is how I did it

Yes, but how to find out ?

The main question is: why did it work fine, but suddenly no more ?  I didnot install any updates or so. I can say that DCS pretty often causes a Blue Screen of Death. I already cleaned the whole PC a few weeks ago, reinstalled Windows 10, updated all drivers, redownloaded all of DCS and all tools. This whole PC is only for DCS and it's tools like SRS, VoiceAttack, Scratchpad and SSA. Nothing else is on it.

So maybe another BSOD corrupted some files ?  Windows-files ?  DCS files ?  Who knows ?

I think I would start my looking in windows registry (regedit in start ---> run ---> regedit) under hkey_local_machine under either the software section or app data and look for anything in the registry named as simshaker.

Obviously don't delete anything there if you find something in registry as simshaker until you completely uninstall ssa again.

Sounds like since you did a clean install of windows and reinstalled dcs there wouldn't be anything crazy interfering with the software yet somehow it is.

If uninstalling use Revo uninstaller as that will give you options to clear out registry keys and all trace. No idea why windows does such a bad job of this.

Or before you do that there is another free program called ccleaner by piriform. That has a great tool for searching for and removing unused registry keys. I use it all the time for PC upkeep.

Did you test the latest beta?
This is a known issue for .net applications, sometimes, the user.config file (or others) gets corrupt. I added some checks in the latest beta to "prevent" this issue...

Right !  AFTER uninstalling SSA I found this in the registry

under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Tracing:

under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules I found

and these:

The X-drive is my NAS. I installed SSA once from my NAS, but that wasn't a good idea,

Under Computer\HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-147794890-503004180-716123516-1001\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FeatureUsage\AppLaunch:

Wellll..... I found 12 more occurences of "simshaker" !!  This was AFTER deinstalling !   So I don't know what kind of de-installer this is, but it's not working.

So what do I do ?  Delete all of it from the registry ?

If you've uninstalled ssa completely yes I would delete those keys. Or like the previous user mentioned, use cc cleaner or Revo uninstaller. It should delete any found keys that are unused after something is uninstalled.

Hello all! and Hello Andre, I just noticed that I do not have the AV8B in SimShaker listed. I would like to adjust the settings for it. Any help?  @f4l0

Ok, it's a bug in.net/windows, I try to add some more code to prevent / workaround this issue... Usually deleting the user.config file should be enough... The file is nested somewhere inside the AppData\Local directory.

@f4l0 Hi.

The option "Buffet/Stall shudders/Vortex Ring State" on the A-10C does not work. If I remember correctly, I have long written about this bug. Look, please.

This should work. Any other user have issues with this?

Even if I delete the file, SSA does not start to work again. I have to downgrade several versions for getting the functionality back. Not at the computer at the moment, but I believe it's version x.x.7 or something like that. I can upgrade now and it keeps working, for a couple of days.
