I'm one of the few here that waits till modules are released (read: out of BETA). I have yet to purchase the MiG-21Bis (and the other BETAs) as I've been waiting for the release, but I'm starting to get the sense that it has subtly shifted status from BETA to release.

I wait out the BETA phase because I have nothing to contribute and I like to have a feature complete aircraft (bugs are fine and inevitable), complete manual, training missions, some single missions, and a campaign (hopefully!) when I buy a module.

What is the plan for the release of the MiG-21Bis? Is it already released and I missed it? If it is, what is included?

Thank you kindly.

The MiG-21 is out of beta as per: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2912559&postcount=10

It is feature complete for quite some time now (at least since 2015).

You didn't need to wait that long. All that stuff was already included one year ago ;)

But yeah, an announcment was kinda missing.

:) I don't mind waiting. Life is pretty busy (another reason I skip BETA).

You deserve a medal for self control or something. Seriously.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

I am a huge fan of the MiG-21bis, but saying it is feature complete is a bit dishonest. One of the core systems of an interceptor/air superiority fighter such as the MiG-21bis is the gunsight. As released, it wasn't quite finished, but didn't seem too far off from working as it should. In the past few releases it has actually regressed in functionality. The manual range input now requires special scaling when mapped to a joystick axis and the reticle has a fixed size. Until the gunsight works per the manual, I woudn't even call it out of beta, much less feature complete.

As originally delivered, I would have recommended buying the MiG-21bis right away. The roughest parts were patched quickly. But ever since the engine changed to the 1.5/2.0 split development branch, the MiG-21bis has been more like an alpha and I have found myself flying it a lot less when the F-86, MiG-15, and F-5E have less problems and are otherwise equally fun to fly.

Wait.... Mig-21 got a campaign??

Yep, since day one. Not sure if it works correctly in 1.5.4, though. You might want to open and save each mission in the editor before trying it out (the trick used to cope with some compatibility issues of old missions).

It'd be nice to see a statement from the devs as to what is still being worked on and to be fixed.

It's pretty difficult to help with bug reports and so on when we get only get occasional patch notes.

I have the same feelings regarding the Mig-21. Especially regarding the high AoA behaviour.

It's still not 100% fixed but in the latest 2.0 patch it became much less stable at high AoA.

If you pull before neutralizing rolling/yawing moments the aircraft has a tendency to depart. Violently.

DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule.

In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

Hi guys, apologies if it's already been asked but are you planning to release a pilot body for the Mig-21?

Couldn't agree more. Control is power.

BTW enjoy MiG-21, its worth the waiting :)

Good luck though figuring out the switchology of the ECM pod. I can't find a good guide or decent instructions anywhere.

I think its in the manual. I didn't have any trouble using it.

that's just a taste of what devs have to face when they want to start building the ecm functionality in the first place
