joebloggs Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 How do you use Zoom in Oculus Rift? I can't find the setting or the key to use. Thanks.
Gman109 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 If you haven't found the answer yet, it's under "UI Layer" in the control settings screen for your KB/Stick settings. You can map a button/key to zoom there, and it works really well in game. wolle Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 ... and it works really well in game. Sorry, but no, it does not work well. It is only an on/off zoom with a fixed zoom factor. What we need is a variable zoom assignable to an AXIS, as we have it for the normal 2D screens. Or am I missing something? Verde Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 is there any technical problem making vr zoom same as ordinary zoom, so we can assign it to axis and use more convinient. Resolution is not perfect, for spotting targets it is very important!
Neldrion Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 The conventional zoom changes the Field of View. In VR you need to have a fixed Field of View. When they let you zoom freely, you would have a distorted image most of the time expect for when you hit the sweetspot. With VR zoom they give us a fixed Zoom that goes always back to the original state which is the correct Field of View for the VR user. I guess in the future there will mybe be the VR Zoom feature that lets you adjust it in different steps. Quote Vedexent: The technical term for an over ambitious ground attack pilot is "dead". Johnny Dioxin Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I think the VR zoom is excellent, both for looking closely at areas of the cockpit and for confirmation of targets. Without it being OTT. Fusedspine33 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Have read this a post a couple of times and still don't see the answer. I got my rift yesterday. Took about 30 seconds to realize the dream of three monitors would never scratch the itch that vr vigorously scratches. I am not sure if I am confusing platforms Vive vs Rift but my dash in CDs 2.1 alpha is almost on my chin where some videos you can see the rudder pedals. Have I set something up wrong is there a zoom in out key command. Is there a different set of commands between 1.5 and 2.1. What I found in the controls menu do nothing on screen, but I also haven't been able to find one marked "Vr Zoom in/out". If there is a patient soul that would be willing to help me get the vr setup and how to bind keys in the game. I would be forever grateful. On key binding for the TM warthog I have followed videos but the assignments seem to disappear on startup. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
dburne Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Do not look in the control setup for your aircraft module. VR Zoom and well as VR Re-Center is located in the UI Layer. Scroll down past the modules toward the bottom to the UI Layer. There you can set bindings for VR Zoom as well as Re-Center, both are very handy to have. Reason it is there is it is a global setting and applies across the board. I myself have VR Zoom assigned to two buttons on my Warthog throttle, one is a press and hold , the other a two way toggle. Double tap the mouse wheel button, then hold down the wheel and scroll up or down to move the seat forward or back. Double click mouse wheel button to return to mouse mode. I have these commands programmed into VoiceAttack and simply say seat forward or back and it does it all for me.

Have I set something up wrong is there a zoom in out key command.. Usually a good place to start is by sitting in a neutral (face forward) way and hitting "5" on the NumPad. That should recenter the headset and often helps if you're too high/low/forward/etc. After that, play with the seat settings and other controls as mentioned.
Fusedspine33 Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Thanks for the replies, as you can see I am new per the post count. I had no idea you could move the seat back. thanks. Is there a good sticky that currently works to learn how to modify the warthog profile in game. I tried one but the changes disappeared when I started the simulation. Thanks again.

Thinder Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Holly cow! I tried a take off with my actual VR settings and once a sudden, now that I solved my controls issues and am able to maneuver it all make sense.
