dooom
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE DOGS OF WAR! In advance of the release of the Spitfire, the Dogs of War are happy to release our entire WWII Mission set to the community. This release is in part due to our anticipation of new changes to the Caucuses and the soon to be released Normandy theater. What does this mean for you? Well... I guess it means you can download any of our missions that you may have enjoyed on our server from the DCS User files. You are now free to: Host the missions yourself to start a new WWII squad or server Edit the missions to suit your preferences - please note your changes in the description when hosting - take AI out... add AI in. Whatever you like :) Use these missions as a template to configure your own missions and ideas. Fix anything that has broken (these missions are now free to everyone and unsupported. Feel free to update any broken scripts/unit positions that may break or be broken) ADD THE SPITFIRE IN I cannot stress enough - please take a moment to open and re-save the missions in the ME if you are going to host them.... i have found that this is usually necessary to do once DCS increments up a version in order to have the triggers work properly. Also - please feel free to update the scripts if they are throwing errors. Some of these might need a bit of TLC to get working smoothly again but I reeally dont think they will take that much work. Please note that we used to use the DOGS of WAR Skin pack on many of our missions so I would encourage users to seek out Whiplash's User pack of skins. These missions have been built with AI and stock DCSW ground units - meaning folks should be able to enjoy them without having to install mods. the exception is the Rheinubung mission which uses the Bismark and Hood mods. ** BIG THANKS to Stonehouse, Grimes, Speed, Ajax and Sithspawn for the numerous scripts I have used over the years. Please forgive me if I forgot to thank anyone. Included in this list are the following missions. They have all been uploaded to the DCS User Files under the tags "WWII" and "DoW". I will update the list below with the direct links to user files when they are active. Please allow the moderator time to approve them as they may not all be approved and active yet. dooom
DoW will be back - we are just trying to figure out what we want to be moving forward. There are plenty of servers up now servicing WWII ... some we like the mission design and others not so much. It's the right niche that we are trying to identify now. I don't think we will ever be too terribly interested in airquake missions - rather, we would like to see historically *plausible* scenarios play out that compliment the different module's strengths... with Normandy on the horizon, I think we will have a sandbox to help us figure it out. That said, keep an eye out for our resurgence and tell us what you liked about DoW missions so no babies are thrown out with the proverbial bathwaters. SnowTiger
Operation River Raiders - Pretty Please Any word about the release of the 4 above-mentioned, yet-to-be released missions ? I would love to chase after that scientist a few more times yet in Operation River Raiders. SnowTiger:joystick:
too-cool
Two of my friends and I attempted to fly the Operation Bodenplatte mission, the problem that we encountered was any of us acting as the host to this mission encountered stuttering to the point that the game was unplayable for the host while the clients had no stuttering what so ever, this was the same for each of us as we took turns trying to host this mission and encountering the same issue, if you hosted you encountered stuttering that rendered the mission unplayable for the host with clients game play smooth as silk. Because this only happen to the person hosting we determined it to not be a computer related problem but rather a mission problem. All other mission that we played from this collection ran perfect. Any Ideas. feefifofum
Unfortunately, this is a side effect of complex missions; a dedicated server is recommended if nobody flying is able to run the .miz and fly it with acceptable frame rates. On the plus side, usually the dedicated server doesn't have to be particularly beefy, as long as it has a decent amount of RAM and meets the minimum spec for DCS. If you or a friend have a last-gen gaming PC collecting dust somewhere you might be able to convert it into a server machine for running DCS. Beyond that, unfortunately, there's not much to be done. too-cool
To bad, might have been a very good mission. For us having a dedicated server is not a option. Thanks for the reply. dooom
i wonder if it could be all the static bombers i places at the one base... try deleting them and save as a different file name ... then re-play and try... you could also try setting the weather to clear. maybe the overcast nature is causing a problem on this old mission.
