Tacan offset wrong?

So I decided to test some navigation in the M-2000C and set up the following:

 

1) Started from Nellis (instant action "Cold start").

 

2) Input my position in the INS and did a full INS alignment.

 

3) Set Tacan 87X (Creech).

 

4) Made an offset 39nm to bearing 350 degrees from Creech to end up exactly at Groom Lake.

 

Only problem is I didn't end up at Groom Lake since the HSI needle was pointing probably 20 degrees wrong. The HSI mode was set to VAD.

 

What did I do wrong?

Use in mission bearing and distance F10, not the Editor´s map.

 

The editor´s map is pointed to true north so you need to take in count the 11º magnetic deviation.

 

The in mission F10 map is pointed to magnetic north.

Thanks for your reply, but actually this was all set up on the F10 map and not in the editor. I'm still a bit puzzled about why it didn't work.

Sorry to hear that.

 

20º off is to much. And if you have updated your init WP correctly there must not be such difference.

 

I will try myself your data.

 

PD: When you set the offset are you sure you have the Creech Tacan working? Because i understand that you have edited the offset from Nellis parking and i´m not sure if its possible to receive the Creech Tacan from the Nellis Parking. You need to receive the TACAN to edit a VAD point first.

Ahh, I think you solved it. It's true that I set it up on the ground and probably the Tacan signal wasn't received. I will test again, and I'm sure it will work!
