F-5E Dynamic Campaign: Desert Tiger 76

- when hosting the campaign in MP do I always run Desert Tiger 76_first.miz or I should switch to Desert Tiger 76_ongoing.miz after the fist mission is done?

Run the ongoing file from the second mission on. Playing the "first" mission again will reset the campaign stats.

- If I want to run 2 copies of campaign - one for MP, and one for SP - can I just install a second copy into a separate folder and rename all references/filenames so that there is no a conflict? What I've done is - I installed it as "Desert Tiger 76 (SP)", and then renamed .cmp and .miz files and changed references to them inside .cmp.

Yes you can make a second copy. What you have to do is update the name and path in the Init/camp_init.lua. Then run the FirstMission.bat to generate a new mission file. You do not need to rename the .miz files (they will be generated automatically) and the .cmp is not needed for MP anyway.

Its my first time trying out one of your Dynamic Campaigns, MBot and so far it seems to work flawlessly but I'm having performance issues. It seems to stutter a lot throughout the mission. Is this a known issue or is it something to do with my system?

The missions are very performance heavy in principle, but with an appropriate system and/or appropriate graphics settings it should be playable (I'm playing it in VR). I did have a bad experience with DCS 2.1 though and have basically stopped playing DCS until v2.x is getting ironed out again.

It's unplayable for me in VR. And that's with a fairly top of the line PC build earlier this year and with everything on LOW. Must be an issue with 2.1. And I should say that I just bought the F-5 and did not try this campaign when it came out for an earlier version of NTTR. So as said above, probably just due mostly to the current (Oct 2017) version of DCS.

givin it a shot with 2.2. performance in this version is WAY better than 2.1 so should be doable...

well, the takeoff was ... not easy.. because my (16gb, 3.2ghz) box was struggling with all the activity on the airfield. once airborne it was fairly doable. Fun even. and then I missed my targer, got killed and the program crashed to desktop. so yeah.

Well I made a "training" version with Harrier instead of F-5 but it's not really a playable campaign yet : Harrier IA is unable to take off heavier than 20000 so it's nearly impossible to use them for medium range missions with decent loads.

I made 4 missions in this campaign but I was nearly alone against Migs ...

If someone want to try this I can send the link ;)

I have updated the campaign in the first post to version 1.05. There were no changes to the campaign itself, but it was updated to the latest version of the Dynamic Campaign Engine, which should fix a couple of bugs that have been fixed over the past months.

I just tried this campaign in 2.5 and encountered a problem: All AI aircraft remained steady on the ground. None of them attempted to taxi or even to takeoff.

I waited on my ramp position for 10-15 minutes (till after my official takeoff time) without moving.

Nevermind, it's all good. The aircraft that are part of the mission do move. Its just that the first mission was a very small package and all the other aircraft at Nellis were just static and not part of the mission like I thought.

After an entire year of waiting (I refused to install OA), I now started playing this campaign with the arrival of 2.5 OB and so far I'm really enjoying it! Great work!

I have two questions though:

1) When on a mission to attack fuel and ammo depots at Creech AFB I order my flight to attack the primary target. Instead of distributing their attacks on the various depots they just all go for a single depot and bomb the crap out of it. I'm afraid this an AI issue that has to be fixed by ED or is it something with the campaign? I checked the mission planner before mission start and all the different depots are assigned as targets, so this seems fine.

2) Same strike mission as in question 1, but this time it's about the F-4 AI-escort assigned to the strike package. I'm not sure what they are supposed to do, because what they do is to fly to the IP south of Creech and then turn away to the egress WP somewhere east or even northeast of Creech and then RTB without getting into the fight ever. Is this supposed to be like that, because this makes them useless?

That shouldn't happen. They should all bomb their own target. Some of the fuel tanks stand very close together. Might it just seem as if they are bombing the same target?

The escorts are set up to fly from the IP to the egress point in order not to enter the target area. Since this mission is so short, most interceptors will approach from the rear on the way back and the escorts might not detect them.
