TrackIR5 Profile for UltraWide Scrren

Recommended Posts

I've got LG34 UntraWide screen and have problems with the camera reading/responding the LEDs when I'm looking high or over the shoulder. It gets really frustrating in low altitude combat environments when I'm trying to catch a view for damage assessment or find where those dirty bastards are hitting me from after an attack.

Was hoping that someone that has one of these monsters could share an effective profile and maybe any tips regarding the camera location. I have heard about placing it in the top center of the monitor and others suggested top but a little to the left.

Don't want you to reveal the 'keys to the kingdom', but these immersive UltraWides seem significantly different than a standard monitor and I would appreciate tips/suggestions,etc.

If your camera is having trouble reading the LEDs you should check on the TrackIR software to see what the camera is seeing ; it's either losing sight of you, or being confused by other light sources. Monitor size shouldn't make a difference.

I also have an LG34 Ultrawide and I simply clipped my camera to the top and continued to use my existing TrackIR profile.

I had problems with TIR at the beginning, because I was not used to it, so the

settings I setup to slow TIR down was not allowing it to move far enough

before the IR lights would touch each other.

There is no one profile, each setup is unique to the individual user. Camera

should be directly in front of the sensor other wise you will not get equal

sensor pick up in left and right movement. Also try and tilt the camera back slightly on the monitor and

test different positions where the headset IR lights are pointing. You should be able to rotate the clamp

on your headset a little. see if you can get more movement so the lights don't touch sooner.

Test different settings while you are in sim. Pause the sim and Alt tab out and bring up TIR, change the rotation and then save, then try it out back in the sim.

Quick test while setting up a new profile and noticed just how much pitch is need in TIR to get to the full pitch rotation limits in the A-10C and still be able to see the monitor well.

I have an LG35 ultrawide and use TIR5 w/ proclip, never had any issues. A common mistake is to mount the TIR camera directly in front of your face - this is wrong; mount it to the far (your) left on the monitor and then aim it at your clip, as it hangs off your left ear basically.

I fly/work 7 days a week in my Obutto Revolution cockpit and I've actually found this to be a great setup because the TIR5 camera now is far enough away from my headset that I can afford to be less accurate with aiming the camera and therefore I'm tinkering with it much less often (almost never, unless my wife's cat tugs at the cable...).

Seriously? That goes against what the manual recommends, which is centered with your head.

Live photo of my TIR camera sitting where is lives 24/7 on my LG ultrawide center monitor, used for Elite and DCS 7 days a week. Its aimed directly at where my ProClip will hang off my left ear at all times. Never have to touch it, just run TIR software, hit center and fly. This arrangement affords the camera maximum visibility of my ProClip, which is... on the left side of my head :)

Being more specific - the TIR camera should be centered with the device. For track clip mounted on the hat its generally aligned with center of the head. In case of track clip pro mounted on one side of the headphones, camera has to be offset a bit to one side so that it's exactly in front of the LED's.

Then, there is nothing specific required for setting up TIR when moving to widescreen monitor. The first thing to check would be if camera/device are setup correctly as camera location most probably has been changed. Check if sensors are visible during full head movement - if not play with tilting the camera a bit down/up, right/left, moving it right/left, rising/lowering LED's on track clip pro.

Don't start with playing with the axis as potentially you're risking ruining a good configuration which most probably is not the issue. Although changing camera placement may result in axis curves requiring some fine tuning as camera-device distance seam to affect the sensitivity.

After I got my big 48" Samsung JS9000 the TrackIR needed different curves. I extended all the curves out to the left & right edges. Test each axis with all the others turned off. Move the TrackIR window so the scale is centered on your screen to test the results. Place the camera so that your tracker is centered - a bit left for the Pro with LEDs. Get a really nice hat for the Clip. The zip file has the profile.

One thing I have not seen out there is a video of how you can play with the Track IR settings when inside the sim.

I'd agree with that, centered on the device would have been a better comment. That's a far cry from the extreme left side of the monitor, unless your head is the size of a medicine ball.

To clarify:

Using a Hat Clip, centered on your face, as the hat clip is centered... on your face.

Using a ProClip: To the left on the monitor, however far off it needs to be to get a full clean shot at your proclip throughout its full range of motion.

I only use a small 27" screen but the problem is known to all TiR newcomers and screen changers I guess.

I just put my receiver a bit to the left so it aligns with the LED's properly. If you are too far left it wont see the LEDs if you look RIGHT ! YOu have to find a balance there ;)

I messed with the profiles and reverted back to the default that comes with it. I guess every one is different and I think too many knobs drive one nuts and kept it simple..aka I got used to how it is in default mode.

I think I have no deadzone, that I changed... so no default LoL...told ya...those many knobs and switches...
