I dont have Viggen and for me the game is back as it was before I upgraded from 8 gb ram to 16 gb. :( Lags alot...

Can it be a memory leak after the new update?

ED are looking into it, but it was looking like terrain loading issues. If I am allowed to share more info I will as I get it.

Ok

I also discovered in one case that the tail of one of the AI bombers were transparent. I Dont know if this was just a coincidence but have not seen it before.

@Art J

I understand the copying of files to save bandwidth. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting any files that might have been damaged or installed incorrectly and eliminate that as an issue.

This issue is affecting ALL of my DCS installs now, not just OB.

@BillyCrusher

Will try the delete/cleanup/repair thing when I get home.

If not working will send log and options.lua

All versions were working well prior to update and I had no loading time, freezing, connection timeouts or stuttering issues prior to update.

In this particular case the connection timing out when freezing while loading terrain appears to be causing sync or ping issues.

Anyone with long loading time (not with ingame stutters), please attach your "\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\options.lua" file.

approx. 2 minutes mission loading in 1.5.5. was this a matter of 20 till 30 seconds max.

after cleanup and repair, downgrading settings. stutters, micro-freezes and buffer issues only appear with fast movement with oculus and vr zooming.

My SSD - Samsung 850 Pro 512GB for 3 versions of DCS including the Beta. OS is on a separate SSD, same spec but 256GB

Longer loading time for me on 1.5.6 Beta when compared to 1.5.5 with same settings. Also I am on Oculus VR.

Ok,

deleted dcs.openbeta folder from saved games.

ran dcs_updater.exe cleanup

ran dcs_updater.exe repair

When I opened DCS OB, i was in windowed mode, fixed all my settings and but did not import joystick profiles. Entered joystick profiles manually.

Loaded a simple mission with a Gazelle and 5 static object helicopters

Hit ok to load mission, get to start button, everything still ok

Hit start button, wait exactly 3 minutes and am finally able to enter aircraft.

Close mission, go to multiplayer.

Join 104th Phoenix server. Select it and hit join. Wait for 1 minute and 25 seconds and load into area to select aircraft. Unable to select aircraft, game freezes 20 seconds then get connection timed out window.

Nothing has changed for me after repairs.

Just checked 1.5.5 and 2.0 OA. 1.5.5 has same load time as 1.5.6. 2.0 OA has 3 minutes 49 seconds wait to load offline mission. Did not test server join for 1.5.5 or 2.0 OA.

For me, DCS 2.0 OA always had a slightly longer load time than the others, now all take long to load.

Previous load times to enter simple offline mission was 10-12 seconds and about 15 secs to join 104th server.

Options lua attached.

I've got the same. It's annoying but not a game breaker. Micro freezes and buffering in VR on 1.5.6 - same settings on 1.5.5 with no issue.

Pretty close to a game-breaker though, because the zoom function for the VR is now essentially unusable. Let's hope ED can fix it soon.

Gentlemen with too long DCS loading

Corsair Force Series GT 120GB. Both the OS and DCS are on this disk, and it's the only hard disk / SSD I've got installed currently.

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Longer loading times too on a Samsung 850 evo SSD (500GB) (recently noticed since I switched from 1.5 stable to OB).

Starting the sim looks similar (about 32" on OB and OA).

Starting the Instant Action cold start mission for the L-39, from click to briefing screen: 81"

I know it's not the same assets but as a rough comparison, Instant Action cold start mission for the L-39, on OA: 52"

(that's still a lot more time for a very simple mission loaded in OB)

(I don't have 1.5 stable installed)

----

A friend also noticed longer loading times using a Crucial MX300 SSD (750GB).
