You will need to allocate key presses yourself to those entries.

Open the Assign Controls in game, or preferably through the DCS main menu options.

If you use the DCS Main Menu to access it make sure you select the right module you want to assign controls to from the drop down box that appears in the top left hand corner of the new screen that is opened.

Then it is a matter of finding what you want to assign - ie T0, T1, TV and click on that entry.

Now you will see the options for keyboard, joystick, throttle (whatever you have) in columns.

Find the corresponding column you want - ie keyboard.

Click on that colum on the line that corresponds with what you want to assign a key to. This will bring up another entry box and from here you assign what key/buttons you want to assign to that command.

Hit the Apply button before you exit to save your commands.

You should now have successfully binded a key to what you want.

There is a good walk through here How To Setup Controls and Joystick that's on steam.

I start by clicking on each axis category column and clear them out, only leave the keyboard one as it is. Seeing the Viggen is in beta some key commands are not set so these will need to be assigned somewhere to joystick or keyboard. I have CH gear and have the most needed controls mapped to HOTAS.

Take a look at this thread HERE about setting up the warthog profile, it will give you some ideas of the main keys needed for the viggen.

On the subject of assignments, since there is a separate "joystick" for the radar, I was wondering if you could plug in another joystick and assign the radar controls to it?

I have a couple of spare Saitek sticks in the cupboard, could they be used as the radar stick?

I don't have the Viggen yet but studying all the possibilities first!

Cheers

David

Yes, you could use them. I connected my ancient Logitec gamepad with two analogue joysticks, and it worked perfectly.

But I decided not to use it, too many controlers on a small table. :D I have my radar stick mapped to CH throttle mini joystick, and use that same mini joystick + modifier to steer the RB 05. Works fine for me.

Thanks. I have an x55 Throttle and Stick and two X52's in the cupboard. I was thinking either one of the mini hats on the x55 throttle for the radar? But I like the idea of using a x52 stick as the radar.

Will have to experiment!

But then there's that force sensing stick (right side Viggen cockpit)? Is that for controlling the rb5? Ohmygosh, I need a bigger table!

There's some interesting times ahead for this Sweedish beauty!

Cheers

If that mini hat is analogue it would be fine.

Yep, that's it.

Yeah... :D

You could, but keep in mind that the only reason that the Viggen has multiple sticks is that at the time of development of the aircraft the HOTAS concept was very new. I believe the concept was pioneered in the mid 60s on the lightning. The controls would probably have been solved very differently had the aircraft been developed about 5-10 years later. More or less all of the controls found on the multiple sticks can be mapped to a decent HOTAS setup. :-)

Yes, copy that thanks.

I will probably grab the Viggen this weekend and go about assigning my X55. There should be enough hats to assign the radar and the force sender stick. There's no double detent on the trigger, but I could probably use the stick pinky and another button.

Half the fun is working out an ergonomic system for the HOTAS. But I really need the aircraft first!;)

Cheers,

David
