From the manual: The command steering needles display steering commands from the CK37 in pitch and course angles. The needles are stowed during take-off mode, visual landing mode (LANDN P/O), or when the HUD slave (SLAV-SI) switch is in position ON (TILL), as well as during CK and primary data errors.
