Wolf8312
I've just been getting into it, and its a really great tool that will allow me to start real missions on Vegas that are quite easy even for a layman to make close to the standard of many of the 'instant action missions' which I as a bit of a noob play most often anyway. It is so cool trying to hide from enemies and sam sites in vegas, flying low and using the buildings as cover! Thought I would recommend it to others like me, who have maybe lazily avoided using it up to now because mission editors are famously complex and involved. This one is actually really simple to get started with, and I finally managed to set up a few enemy activated trigger zones after a few hours of only trial and error. Even if you dont want trigger points you can just plonk a few samsites around vegas, and trust me you'll still have enormous fun trying to take them out! After a while you start to realize that the mission editor and making missions (or attempting in my case) is actually a whole other creative side to the game, making the missions a hobby in itself. The main thing though and the reason I forced myself to get into mission editing with DCS is that I like being able to have control over peformance (number of units, and which units etc) which is pretty much a God send for VR as you can still create great missions with plently of action that are much better streamlined and wont overload the fps/units. So anyone else use the mission editor to design VR only missions? I was wondering if there is a VR community which specifically design missions with VR performance in mind? ------------ 3080Ti, i5- 13600k 32GB VIVE index, VKB peddals, HOTAS VPC MONGOOSE, WARTHOG throttle, BKicker,

You know I have been meaning to try and learn the editor, and have shied away from it thinking maybe too complex for me. I would love to learn to create missions , I think your post has motivated me more to actually do it now - so thank you! I would love to create some good missions for the KA-50 in Vegas, and maybe even the Spit if Normandy takes much longer. Now I just need to set aside a few hours and really dig into it. Los
What would you consider to be a vr only misison? I fly any kind of missions in vr and voila, the are vr missions. There's no vr specific features in the editor (BTW I design most of my mission in the editor while in vr, ... it is a PITA.) But otherwise, the guys I fly with with our missions are a mix of vr and mundanes :D and everyone enjoys them equally...

Well as I said above, yes there's loads of missions that are quite fine to fly with but every so often you come up against missions with too many units that VR does not seem to handle as well. If you control the number of units you can make sure you won't have any performance dips. Haven't tried MP yet so I was mainly asking if people have thought about creating MP maps specifically for VR so they don't when playing MP pubically come up against maps and missions with so many units that it ruins the VR experience. Cibit
A tip that may be useful for you is to have spawnable units that are activated when the first group dies or is reduced in number to less than 10% as an example I have added a .MIz file for you to look at if you want. It has a BTR group of 4 vehicles. If you kill 3 of them a MBT group of 4 T72's are activated and will move to the target area. Just put in an aircraft type of your choice to test it:) Also most missions I make are for the 229th to fly so MP, generally it is not the amount of units on the map that creates issues but static objects that are placed to make the FARP or base look alive and interesting.Respawn example.miz Edited March 2, 2017 by Cibit i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Wolf8312
Thanks man will gladly take a look! Spent all night on the mission editor! One thing I now have is a new respect for sim pilots who dont fly in VR. I went back to 2D just cause its easier for testing purposes and jesus I had to go back to VR in the end just cause it was easier to fly! I did used to fly 2D but VR has erased how difficult it really was! You really are at a major disadvantage, and because you feel so far back and dissosociated from your aircraft, its very difficult to judge all kinds of very important factors such as speed and distance! But like DCS itself I am glad I learned the mission editor, and also like DCS its another case of the more you put in the more you will take out. One thing I couldnt really undesrtand even reading the manual is just what exactly flags are, and what are they used for? ------------ 3080Ti, i5- 13600k 32GB VIVE index, VKB peddals, HOTAS VPC MONGOOSE, WARTHOG throttle, BKicker,

Flying your own missions is great fun I actually find it pretty tense and find my own missions. A little too difficult. It's really a great tool for creativity and I haven't even started yet! ------------ 3080Ti, i5- 13600k 32GB VIVE index, VKB peddals, HOTAS VPC MONGOOSE, WARTHOG throttle, BKicker,

I am definitely going to give a whirl soon , actually the wife is going away on a business trip next week, might be a good time for me to devote a few hours to really get into it. I assume best way would be to have a good read in the manual and just start playing with it...
