Transport Airplanes - ideas?

May be I am this kind of guy who is looking for campaigns with good and intriguing story lines. Both Mi-8 and Uh-1H shine among the other mods with their missions including not only shooting and avoiding being shot but also rescuing, relocating troops, and transporting cargo tasks. It would be great if we get some transport/multi-role airplanes too.

I would love to have a C-160 (a C-130 also works), but the DCS framework needs to be extended in terms of logistics and troop transport to really make use of such an aircraft ingame.

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I'd be equally happy with a C-130 or C-17.

C-130 is a turboprop which makes things interesting.

C-17 has higher top speed, orgasmic reverse thrust, and extreme TWR when lightly loaded. Most modern versions have HUDs and MFDS, which would probably complicate development.

DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule.

In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

C-130 would be nice especially as I already know the start-up routine :)

But it needs to be from earlier times, before the upgraded engines/props, so we get that full-on, legendary Herc sound! :smilewink:

Even though the AC-130 would be far, far more complex to develop.

C-130/160 is definitely the icon of military transport, but I could also see a C-27J Spartan, a C-23 Sherpa STOL or may be a CASA C-212Aviocar (C-41A)?

all light and agile transports.

If we could get a V-22 Osprey, of course, there would be a clear preference... :music_whistling:

Wasn't that the plane from Air America movie? If yes then coun't me in. I wouldn't mind the C-130 also or something like An-26.

From "The battle simulator" website

- "AC-130U DTT. Sensor and weapon operator procedures trainer for the USAF"

complexity lightened?

Now just dumb it down and hide the good classified stuff so us civvies can use it :) Hell, I'll take an FC3 version of the AC-130.

I know I know, this is so far from ever happening. One can dream though.

These two aircraft can't perform the tasks that they were designed for half the time in DCS. I honestly cannot imagine the nightmare an aircraft like the C130 would present. I'm all for getting the stuff that's already out and needing work up and running before we get something that seems like it would have the same problems only a lot more complex.

I'd go with a C-130 definitely, and a DC3 too. There is one in the works somewhere through a 3rd party, the name of which escapes me at this ungodly hour of the morning.

Anything that increases the frustration of the F/A-18 fraternity has to be a good thing!

exactly! and this thing performs where others think they can.

The Swiss knife of the aviation. The aircraft "AK-47" - your best friend. It can fly, it can hover, it can perform water landings, if needed it may even become submersible... and I heard "Mir" space station had one spared for emergency evacuation. You can bet, this monster can run on coal or sunflower oil. Yeah, we need one of those for special missions (e.g. landing in an enemy stadion).:pilotfly:

actually scratch that.

A KC-130

perhaps a player flown tanker wil be more usefull, stable and more cooperative than a AI flown one for refueling A10's and F/A18's

You need a player operated boom operator. There lies most of the problems.
