F-5E not working anymore after today's 2.0.5 update

Recommended Posts

Looks like nobody reported the problem so far.

Since DCS updated the 2.0.5 version this morning, all airplanes and helicopters work except for the F-5, regardless of the role on the roster.

I tried on Multiplayer, campaign and quick mission. As soon as I click "fly" in MP and campaign, it freezes the game. on quick mission, it loads but as soon as my cockpit appears, everything freezes.

Anyone else have that issue?

p.s. I also "repaired the DCS 2.0 openalpha"

My systems:

Same problem here. Since the update today, my screen freezes as soon as I press "Fly" at mission start. I can see the cockpit but nothing moves on. Screen just freezes in the cockpit-view.

VC14 is installed. Without it DCS doesn't even start. Every other of my modules works, just F-5E has the mentioned problem.

The problem occurs with others too: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3069205#post3069205

The funny thing is on my computer DCS starts whether or not I installed VC14??? First I installed it, then I uninstalled it, makes no difference, DCS 2.0 starts up (but misbehaves in either case, see various other posts)

trippylummox seems to have described my problem accurately if not completely. I can get to the debrief screen, but the "Fly" button won't highlight. After clicking the "Fly" button, it highlights and the cursor disappears, then nothing. I haven't tried to wait it out--I might try that now. But here's the log file.

P.S. I don't know if you'll find anything useful in the log file. I tried and failed to fly the F-5E today but my computer says they were last modified yesterday.

Good luck and thank you.

Update: I have been trying to wait out the program for the last hour with no change. DCS appears to have stagnated at 15% CPU usage and 2.5 GB RAM. I have an AMD FX 9590 and 32 GB of RAM installed.

Update 2: DCS RAM usage has dropped to about 0.5 GB within 20 min. of me writing the last update.

Update 3: I just realized what date it is today. The logs were updated today. I thought it was the eighth when I wrote that the logs were last modified yesterday. :music_whistling:

Update 4: Still no improvement. I'm going to let it run overnight and check in again after I get home from work in the morning.

Update: I was able to get it working on my laptop by download and installing both VC14 versions x64 and x86. Not sure if I was supposed to install both but I did and it now works. I will try the same thing on the desktop as soon as I get the chance.

How did you manage this? When I try and install the x86 file it won't let me as it already detects the x64 file installed

I just happened to download and install x86 first. Then the X64 got downloaded and installed afterward. I guess I got lucky to do it in that order.
