Pilotasso's new mental bonkers Rig finally (OMG what have I done)

Recommended Posts

I have always been totally against going overboard with hobbies, only to do the exact opposite on a shopping spree. :D

I have restocked with mineral water and bread properly for the next 2 months. :)

Seriously I cant afford this.

But did it because prices for some parts are going up and wont come down till next year at the earliest and my 6 year old 2500K is having BSOD's and freezes on HDD copies.

On order:

Case: cancelled the P400S and Phanteks Pro-M It's now the Corsair 400C

PSU: SEASONIC 760W Platinum

CPU: AMD RYZEN 1700X

MOBO: ASUS CROSSHAIR HERO VI AM4

Cooler: NXZT Kraken X62 280mm AIO

RAM: two 4266Mhz 16GB kits of trident Z RGB F4-4266C19D-16GTZR (yeah I'm nuts)

Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 1TB M.2+6GB WD 6Gb red for my p...data

[uPDATED]GFX: MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X

Extras:

LOOOL :megalol:

BTW, I dont have the parts yet, its on order.

I dont expect them to be here for a while given the shortages, but you bet Im going to document the build and the oveclocking craze that will follow. Specially the memories, I have no idea if 4000Mhz will ever be reachable (people are getting to 3600Mhz now), but the prices are going up so I decided to shoot in the dark right now.

I can give you the track for version 1.5, which is a heavy load on the processor.

If you measure the FPS on 0/26/48/59/66 second, we can compare our results.

I had a FX-6300 with HD 7870XT, and after changing it to R 1700, the FPS in this track to increase by 40-50% in default and by 50-90% at a frequency of 3.8 for both CPUs.

P.S. DDR4 trident-Z is a good choice for Ryzen, my F4-2800C15D-16GTZB functioned as 3000 without any problem.

Good luck with the 4000 MHz DDR4 LoL you will need LN to cool the "whatever combines those CCX's" at that speed...wow !!!

Looks like some fun ahead !

Are you sure the Corsair fans are OK ? When I got my son's H110 AIO the 1st I did was exchange the super-loud fans from Corsair for some super-quiet bequiet fans. Maybe yours are newer and silent,, hope so !

Have fun.... beans 'n' rice is great if the FPS is HIGH ! :) did about the same when I bought mine, no other extras for months...

Wow nice looking new rig! Congrats should be sweet once you get it built.

You should have just got the Ryzen 1700 and saved youself some money.

The only difference with the 1700X is has turbo/OC included, and uses more heat because of the power.

1700 power is 65W

1700X power is 95W

I have the 1700 and it runs quite a bit cooler than others with 1700X.

I have mine 4.00Ghz with 1.44v with an H110i AIO cooler. And during stability tests with 100% CPU I'm around 63C.

You will get the exact same overclocks with the 1700X, but just more heat.

But you will be very happy with it, this thing is a monster!

btw I have the same mobo too Asus CH6.

The temperature readings on the X versions is offset by 20 degrees Celsius. They should all be the same, though the 1700X should clock to 4Ghz, most non X models hit 3.9, though that's a gamble on my part.

Actual speed is half of the rated RAM specs because it's dual pumped. That's 2000mhz actual. People are hitting 3600 already (1800), and that's with an alpha BIOS. Granted there is no guarantee, it's just feasible and not set on stone yet, which leaves a lot experimenting to be done.

The RGB fans are for exhaust, they don't need to spin fast. The 140mm ones are for push pull arrangement on the AIO, they supposedly are quiet but the case is sound insulated anyway.

Have you checked how much wattage each one uses, 1700 & 1700X, when both perform the same test at 4G ??

I am really curious to see what each one consumed cuz if they dont consume about the same +/- 1-2% the chips are NOT the same...just we still not know where the difference is.

Ok yes my 1700 at 4.00ghz under load hit a max of 94.85 watts.

I beleive I saw the same results on Overclocker.net, someone had a 1700X at 4.00G and they said it was 170.0W under load. A 100 watt difference same overclock, under load.

I am puzzled now !

Does it mean the 1700 can get to 4G with 100w less ??

Stock settings are not what I look for cuz anybody in here will most likely try to get any Ryzen to 4G.

Update:

memories will be the cutting edge 4266Mhz trident Z part number F4-4266C19D-16GTZR (2 kits) strangely the price for 4000 and 4133 Mhz kits is even higher (different suppliers)

the supplier could not get the Case, So I offered 2 alternatives, it will be either the PRO-M or corsair 400C.

Wow, 4 modules ( 2 kits as you say ) will be very hard to get to that speed I bet. Signal quality might become an issue...on the Z270 I could garantee some hair pulling and a VCCIO of 1.3V+

to get it posting.

Those kits arent cheap either, I honestly hope they can be set to full speed, that would be awesome !!!

Thumbs pressed :P

* I lately read that if modules are troublesome, start with ONE module and be patient as the mobo performs RAM training ( RAM scramble named in Bios usually, maybe RAM-Traing as well ), mine does it all the time before it posts I assume ( up to 90 sec delay between beep and post ).

The reviewer said it is easier for the board to train it with 1 module than many, you will have to see if that is true and if it helps.

I do not remember if that was Intel or AMD review, I read by far too much to remeber every detail oh leck !!!

Yeah, those super fast RAMs beyond a certain speed dont come in 16GB modules, largest you get is 8GB per module, same with mine. I had 3200MHz before, 2x16...but it was even more stress to get them working I have to admit.

YOu never know until you did it yourself !

Yeah, I will use just 2 sticks to start. The reason I went with these was because the prices are going up and according to info o the market they likely won't come down for quite a while. 4000 and 4133mhz kits are even more expensive at the moment.

BTW, the sticks are rated 1.4V above the 1.3V of the lower bins.

They are ALL the same Samsung "B" die, only the binning may differ.

1.4V is normal if you go beyond a certain speed, it is mandatory with that fab-process at such high clocks.

yeah, those prices are skyrocketing still

:)

I have gotten hold of a special tool that reads the eprom and may even reflash your DDR4 profiles, when I am back on my machine I will send you a link. It's called Typhoon but spelled differently, dont remember now. It shows you what exactly is on your module, speeds, week of fabrication etc etc.. very helpful.

I became a celebrity on the PC shop's blog and facebook page after the staff published photos of components from my order arriving. Everyone asking who was crazy enough to get four 4266Mhz sticks alongside a SAMSung Evo in the 1TB capacity.

I havent picked it up yet. Waiting for the case and cooler.
