Is this a vive or rift? I noticed that if you run VR via steam's VR mode (and possibly with the steam overlay) that it impacts performance by a lot. I was stuck at 30 FPS with my 1080TI when launching through steam (by adding a non-steam game).

Best thing to do is launch DCS via it's own standalone, it will activate your VR headset.

Also disable certain other overlays like F.Lux if you run that.

spec: i7 4790k 4.00hz.16gb ram,gtx 780ti(before)

now gtx 1080ti

What are your FPS now mate? I would too like upgrade too gtx 1080ti.

I wonder if ASW always active?

For your settings too minimum and test how it is.

From that point you can lift some things up tiny.

Pixeldensity on 1.7

no clouds, no mirrors, use mod GTM 10, this is VR friendly FPS 45-90.

I never really bothered with checking the FPS yet, but my 1080 TI runs as fluid as my old 980 TI... Just cranked up the settings of course (Shadows are finally a lot more crisp :) ). Should probably tweak it a bit more. But definitly no issues with 18-45 FPS. And thats on the Open Beta 1.5. Didnt test 2.0 yet. Will report back after the weekend.

One thing to be aware of as well, DCS frame rate counter in VR dosent seem to be working for me, in that I am missing no frames according to steam VR and yet often seem to be below the target 45 inside DCS. But it runs fine for the most part.

Make sure you are judging it by performace and not just how many fps you can see DCS itself is reporting. How does it actually perform?

I have just replaced my MSI 1080 gaming x for a GTX 1080ti and its definitely a better card for VR, here are the settings and Fps using 1.5

In the 1080 i had my settings as:

Texture- High

Terain- Textures High

Civ traffic- Low

Water- Low

Vis range- Med

Heat Blur- off

Shadows- off

cockpit res- 512

Msaa- off

HDR- off

depth of field- off

lens effect- off

Clutter/Grass half way

tree vis half way

Preload half way

anistophic -x4

terrain shadows- off

THIS was good for a solid 45fps everywhere on SP and MP

The 1080ti

Texture- High

Terain Textures- High

Civ traffic- High

Water- med

Vis range- High

Heat Blur- off

Shadows- High

cockpit res- 1024

Msaa- off

HDR- on

depth of field- off

lens effect- Dirt & Flare

Clutter/Grass Max

tree vis Max

Preload Max

anistophic- x4

terrain shadows -default

This gave me 45fps while low with 90fps over the sea and above 10,000 feet

the only thing i have found is while on the ground i get 22fps (no matter the settings or map type, which is strange, but im guessing its something on my end) FIXED SINCE LAST UPDATE

All in all the 1080ti is by far much better for the rift, and the experience.

the PD i use is 1.5, cant see the benefit beyond this number.

My PC specs are listed below

Do you not get a lot of ground texture shimmering with MSAA set to off?

Seems like I tried that some time ago and got terrible shimmering with it to off. Or maybe it was AS...

no sir I don't, but I know what you mean.

I used to get that a lot before Xmas, not sure if they fixed that issue in an update maybe.
