AegisFX
I've seen suggestions for the lilliput and various ebay screens, but most of them are just a tiny bit too big. Have we seen any screens available that are closer to the cougar mfd sizing lately? I've been searching but I'm not really coming up with much right now. sideshow
I purchased bare bones LCD screens from China, plus HDMI controllers from them. They're still too wide, but without the extra plastic for a bezel they fit fine. I used 3M molding tape to attach the Cougar MFD's to them. I included Ebay links to what I purchased. The screens work good, but adjusting the resolution to something high enough for DCS causes the colors to bleed. You switch screens, and you can still see shadows of what was displayed. It fades quick though. I tried searching for square screens, ect... Even found websites that sold replacement ATM machine screens, and came up dry. http://www.ebay.com/itm/narrow-VGA-LCD-Controller-Board-8inch-800x600-AT080TN52-Lcd-screen-/371646490546?hash=item5687db67b2:g:80UAAOSwvg9XUj~i http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-driver-board-work-for-8inch-800x600-EJ080NA-05A-AT080TN52-LCD-panel-/252601883882?hash=item3ad03edcea:g:pDkAAOSwB09YDboO
SVgamer72
You can mount both MFDs to a single small monitor using velcro around the edges. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KTB42OE/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=
Kayos
It's too bad you can't buy them with a lcd already attached. Someone could probably make some money selling those. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
AegisFX
Thanks for the info guys. When I first purchased dad a10c around 2011 or 2012 ( standalone before dcs world) i actually did the monitor and Velcro thing. Right now I'm actually researching for an f-18c pit, so I can't actually rely on that. Though I may use a small screen for some of the guages. Ragtop
I'd recommend just using a larger monitor so you can pit gauges etc on too. Touchscreen even better as you can put switch panels on! 476th vFG Alumni
AegisFX
Hmm. I didn't think much of s touchscreen until now. I guess a handful of those would work too. I wish we had some more info on the 18c. Once it's released I'm hoping for Helios compatibility to help with small gushes. But it's all hope until some more concrete news and a release. mrwell
The best screen is 7" 4:3 (NEVER 16:9). It has 103 mm of screen, that is perfect for vertical and it is a little wider in the horizontal but it is hidden under the bezel. EBay seller Chinatobby2011 was my source for them. RightStuff
I'd recommend just using a larger monitor so you can pit gauges etc on too. Touchscreen even better as you can put switch panels on! Yes, but it's not advisable to mount the MFDs directly to a touchscreen: Due to their constant contact you'll not be able to use 'finger touch' on other areas on the touchscreen as input. At least, that's my experience. Though I'm thinking of a mount with will let the MFDs 'hover' above the screen. Sry for kinda hijacking this thread - pls just take it as a helpful hint. sharkfin61
With my last setup (2x24"screens), I fixed my 2 MFDs with velcro to the bezel of the lower (touch)screen. Under the corner of each MFD hovering over the glass display, I put a piece of "UHU patafix", some kind of a glueing pad. No issues so far as the display was capacitive not resitive. Rest of the screen was filled with HELIOS panels. sharkfin out! Support your local AirTransportWing ! bones1014
I know this might be a dead thread but why not a 16:9 7"?
Ranma13
The vertical height of the viewable area on a 7" 16:9 monitor is too small for the MFD. Ideally you'd want a 7" 4:3 monitor, but since those are rather hard to find, an 8" 4:3 monitor works just as well.
beanbandit
I Think lilliput sells a openframe 7" display (uncertain If it is 4:3 or 16:9, but they are 800x600 unlikely they are 16:9) they are usb monitors and I think all lilliput's usb monitors are powered and signal through a single usb cable.
