Thanks!

Sithspawn's post provides me with the info I need to know:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3052619&postcount=25

Like I said if it ever happens its a long, long, long wait and I might not ever see this happen, sadly we do get old its not ED's fault if I die or economy goes really bad thats life.

To show me a Thread with info does not change life and the reality of circumstances.

So did you check out all the other links I provided using the search function this is all old discussion not my own thoughts and expressions but the community.

Do you think I dont want this, I wanted this yesterday LoL

The way it could be better understood is that a new younger sim generation might enjoy the labour of love and hard work most here are in their 50's-70's, and most of us started sims and gaming when we were in our teens some forget this fact.

But there is a mentality around to push the young away that is wrong you need to open the door to young gaming crowds for this genre of gaming to grow again.

Enough said!

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Vietnam Map: I'm for it. From late 1960's. Cover the area from 10 N to 23 N Latitude (about 777nm) and from 99 E to 110 E Longitude (about 650nm). That covers most of Thailand, all of Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin. A large variety of aircraft were used in this era. The F-5E, UH-1 and MiG-21 are already made (though, it should be the MiG-21F). There have been several books written describing in detail the F-105D Thunderchief missions from Thailand to North Vietnam. Of course, most people would want the F-4 PhantomII (B, C, D, E & J versions). The A-4E Skyhawk was another important aircraft of this era. Additionally, the A-6A Intruder, A-7B CorsairII, and F-100D strike aircraft were important. Add the A-1 Skyraider and HH-3 and you have a pretty good variety. Of course, the MiG-17 and 19 should be added. Add anti-aircraft artillery of 37mm, 57mm, 85mm, 100mm and 120mm. Make them visually aimed by default or linked to search and tracking radar sites. And add the SA-2 missile and its radars and that should make a very challenging map/missions/campaigns. Also include the Essex-class aircraft carrier Oriskany and escort ships.

Many of the airframes you mention are planned or in production already. Also, Heatblur are making a Forrestal Class carrier. Should be proper for this era.

As for the size of the map, we should be prepared for something similar as with Normandy, where parts of the map will be very low definition (i.e. Thailand), and only the A.O. (Vietnam, or even only south Vietnam) is of higher quality.

I just want this thread to BUMP ;)

It is my highest dream in DCS to someday see a full Vietanam War era map including Yankee and Dixie stations for carrier operations. i hope some party will do à map after the merge sometime.

We have the UH-1, MiG-21, F-5E, Mi-8 (, MiG-15?) and we will get the F-4E in the future. And a A-4 Skyhawk mod. And maybe MiG-19 and Corsair II in the future too. They maybe not Will be the exact pure accurate model For the the era But will IMHO do For the fun of creating/recreating missions from the past.

Please ED do not forget that so many of us want to experience this airwar.

Just wanted to keep this thread rolling. Any news on third party devs looking toward maps? I know there was talk at one point about the South Pacific but no dice yet.

The old man fought in Vietnam and was aboard the Constellation, would be a dream of mine to his carrier and a Nam map brought to DCS. I know we all want this, surprised there has not been more talk.
