Trouble with escorts

So I've had a heck of a time getting escorts to work. Searched the board but found no similarities.

Have French F-2000's set to escort AWACS, but they just keep putting along at 180kts, loosing altitude while the AWACS screams off into the distance.

They try to follow but are so slow they are borderline stalling and dropping altitude.

Is this a bug? Or am I doing this wrong?

Mission file attached.

I tried to create a mission where three cargo planes where escorted by F16s.

The only way to keep the F16s to stay near the cargo planes was to give them individual waypoints (each of them) Exact speed and altitude like the cargo.

Their misson was CAP.

So when enemy jets appear, they will engade, but until then they stay with the whole flight.

It is a bit more work, cause giving every plane its own route takes some time. But IT WORKS !

If you want try my mission, let me know.

What goes up, must come down !

For some reason, with that tasking, those F-2000s won't use afterburner and they need it to sustain the required speed and altitude when carrying fuel tanks. Without the fuel tanks, they have no problem keeping up.

EDIT: Created a simple test mission this morning and tested further. Something odd is occurring. Attached is a sample mission. Watch what happens to the Non-Assigned Escort. He has tanks and continually loses speed even with AB until after reaching the orbit WP. After that, he regains airspeed and continues flying at the assigned airspeed for the remainder. You might want to compress time with the LCtrl+Z command while watching this play out.

Thanks much. Yeah, without a loop function in waypoints I was trying to avoid having to put dozens of waypoints up in a racetrack shape.

Thank you. Glad to see I am not loosing my mind.

Wonder if it will be fixed - or just let resolve itself with the eventual deprecation of 1.5

I have escorts working alright in my mission however it is scripted. But the script is generating the same thing that one would create using the ME as far as I understand. I'm using F18's as an escort to AWACS and they follow no matter where the AWACS goes. Even when I order the AWACS to return to base the escort will do the same.

His problem is that they're following but can't keep up, if they're carrying wing tanks. Take off those wing tanks and there's no problem. They follow and keep up...until they run low on fuel.

Nothing gets resolved unless it's reported as a problem. So please post it as a possible bug (in the 1.5 Bugs and Problems section, perhaps?). Use my sample mission, if you'd like, but set a 2nd F-2000-5 with tanks to escort the AWACs along with the bagless one and observe the difference in behavior among the 3. It should be illustrative.

Appreciate the help, don't need to needle me about the section "perhaps" however.

I am relatively new to posting in the forum and have never encountered an issue worth reporting as of yet.

My sincerely apologies. I didn't mean to offend. Was writing too quickly and didn't stop to think how it might come across. Again, my apologies.
