2.1 Cannot fly or open map editor

The symptoms are identical to the other thread called "2.1 dead in the water", but the solution for that OP hasn't worked so I thought it best to create a new thread.

 

Symptoms:

Cannot open map editor. Screen flickers and remains on main menu.

Cannot fly. It says "DCS not responding" after 30 seconds loading.

 

I cannot try Nevada to see if that works.

 

I've tried updating my Nvidia drivers but that hasn't made a difference.

Fixed it: Deleting the combined arms module resolved this.

 

so I put it back and updated it, and it's fine now.
