Su-27 Blinders Mission: How to beat it?

Does anyone know how to get the AWACS in this mission? It's being a hassle for myself just trying to rush in and getting killed either by the 15's and/or the 16 surprise group.

Only thing I haven't been killed by are the Patriot batteries, and my wingmen aren't much useful either, even with jammers on.

I've only flown this mission once. What I did was to allow my wingmen to catch up and then adjusted my speed to hit my waypoints more or less on time (though I think I might have been a few minutes early).

Once we started getting spiked from our right, I gave my wingmen the generic order to attack the enemy. They peeled off and attacked the group coming from the right. At the same time I accelerated and went after the AWACs.

The wingnuts were tying up 3 of the 4 attackers from the right, leaving one free to come after me. The 2 F-15 escorts were slightly to the left as I headed for the AWACs in full burner. At that point, I realized that I could thread the needle. The lone attacker from the right and the 2 F-15s were all slightly out of position as I kept angling toward the AWACs. They would only get 1 long-range shot from each side. I kept boring through. I didn't worry about attacking any of the defenders.

Both launched at some point. I used countermeasures (to make me feel better) and some slight maneuvering to force the missiles to expend some energy and both fell behind.

Downed the AWACs and kept flying at full burner until my pursuers fell off to RTB. At that point I headed for an alternate base that was a bit closer. If memory serves, it was still about 20km too far and I ended up deadsticking on a road. But I might of made it back to base, too. Don't really remember. It's been awhile. Don't really remember much after the feeling of relief, when I realized no one was chasing me anymore.

EDIT: I had a bit of spare time today for flying and took the opportunity to refly this. Track is attached (ZIP file). If it plays back correctly, it plays out as I described above hitting the WP over Elbrus on time. Finally land at Mineralnoye Vody because I didn't think I'd have enough fuel to make it to Mozdok.

EDIT II: Had a chance to review the track and I see it doesn't play back quite correctly. It was my 3rd and 4th missiles that scored the kill, not the 1st, the wrong aircraft chases me, and I crash in the middle of nowhere rather than landing at MV. Oh well. At least it played accurately enough to show getting through.

After about a dozen sorties and frustration ventilation, I believe I've figured out how to beat it:

The key to beating it is "stealth". Have your flight follow you through the designated waypoints while flying above the patriot bases. DO NOT use ecm pods while your flying and keep on the course until reaching wp3 or starting at wp4(its why I kept getting killed by the -16s later on). The 16s won't find you as easy as they would if ecms were on. By the time you reach 3 and start at 4, they'll more likely make you out, then send your wingmen after them. You'll have a 16 come at you, so you can either kill him, or go straight for the awacs(w/eagle escorts btw). If lucky, a spare wingman or two might distract the eagles or even kill the awacs for you when they're done with the 16s, completing the mission.
