Why don't we simulate the threat of SAMs and AAA in multiplayer?

I'll try to keep this short, though it will definitely mean over-simplification of the issue.

 

In a combat environment SAMs and AAA are an ever present threat. They are not merely used for short-range defense of air bases.

 

However, I rarely see this in DCS multplayer. Are there populated servers that try to simulate a combat environment with SAMs and AAA?

you will find coop servers are more likely to cover this scenario as most A2A servers focus on the combat and use the short range SAM's to prevent vultching at airfields.

 

I have flown missions in the past with our squadron that focus on SAM's but not often, you will likely see this change as more player aircraft with SEAD capability get added.

Check out the BF server as they ambitiously try to simulate and entire conflict. The current server is a work in progress as they prepare for an official "round." There are sam-sites independent of Airports and Farps and the Helo guys can build new sam-sites anywhere, which are now persistent on server restart! Do yourself a favor though, before you join up, grab SRS which utilizes the cockpit radios in game... I'll drop a link to the page here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=169387

You can check our server out. Its a COOP server. Only our squadron missions that also are done on the public server have long range SAMs for SEAD when we do a mixed flight. We have people who fly variety of aircraft. Laid back server and squadron.

 

All of our a2g missions have variety of SAMs/AAA threats that any decent pilot should be able to handle if they fully understand the capabilities of each system. If not..well lots of people make mistakes and get shot down.
