2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread

Apparently at least for a while the AI will be able to see through the new clouds but we won't be able to. I guess that's the same as at present, but could be more of an issue if there start being more clouds in missions. The newsletter also does not say whether clouds will be synced in MP. Has a definite statement been made on that?

I'm Softball on Multiplayer. NZXT Player Three Prime, i9-13900K@3.00GHz, 64GB DDR5, Win 11 Home, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 24GB, TrackIR 5, VKB Gunfighter III with MCG Ultimate grip, VKB STECS Standard Throttle, CH Pro pedals

Agreed about the difference in visibility, might make some fights totally unfair against AI.

Clouds will be synced in MP from the start, that was announced a while back. So at least in MP there won’t be any cheating, if your in the clouds nobody can visually see you.

According to Nineline's comments on Discord the upcoming newsletter may have some stuff about the F-4.

I'm pumped.

Any idea what he means by starting with "The Viper" ? Than continuing to say F-4 news ? I'm confused 🙃

I started asking myself, is there something from the Viper that's called F-4 that i don't know about ?

Edit : Damn i might be stupid, was he mentioning someone in Discord called "The Viper" ? Probably that...

Somebody asked why the F-4E got postponed for years, someone said the mosquito and NL responded and when asked he elaborated.

He's saying that the F-4E got postponed because of the F-16CM.

Great...:(

What's the point of releasing dates, if they are just gonna change them every week?

The community is crying and waving torches if they don't tell guesstimated dates and the community is doing the same if they do tell but miss them(what they regularly do - so no surprise on my side). :dunno:

You are cursed if you are working for ED, you can't please anyone. 🍻

I hear you, but I guess the answer would be to over estimate. If they had said June 2021 ages ago it would have been fine.

I'm sorry but that's simply not true. If there is a curse, it's of their own making. It's not exactly rocket science, and the vocal minority is just that. A minority. I would much rather have NO date at all, rather than a vague date, because that way there is room for error. Everything else is pandering, or sofistry. In any case writing a date, and next to that date (subject to change) is quite honestly an insult to their customers intelligence.

Depends when it was said. Before the 2021 and beyond video I wasn't expecting clouds soon. So if they had said end of Q2 2021 it would have been fine.

They should not give out dates if they can't make them. End of story. There is a simple reason for that. It's called customer satisfaction. When you play with people's expectations too much, when you hype everything too much, then you can't blame the customers if you don't stick to what you promise.

Dates do slip all the time, its reality for all sorts of things. I worked in a job where we had to provide delivery deadlines and I always added a bit extra onto what I thought at the outset. Saved me a few times. Also got me brownie points a few times for delivering early. Either way its not the end of the world... I guess....

It must be nice living in such polarisation.

I mean, borderline delusional, and not in anyway reflective of the vagaries of real-life, but if you wanna get angry when real-life throws a cold bucket of water over your rose-tinted utopian filter of what should be, that's your right I guess.

  • ED Team

Hi all,

we have made it very clear the date is subject to change, internal testing continues and if we need more time we will take it, I think most of you want 2.7 to be the best it can be and that is our intention also.

thank you all for being patient.

Best regards

The ED team
