This is only manhours investment vs the "good enough" modeling limitation.

Btw: every image says WIP.

Yeah, if it has to be manual road rolling, then it is terrain engine limitation, as these things should be automatic.

Same goes for terrain elevation slope under structures.

DCS is constant WIP, it's part of its beauty.

Yeah that's something I was wondering about, the same can be said for the angular roads by an intersection at the bottom of the image.

The Marianas is supposed to be using ED's latest and greatest terrain system, and hopefully part of that would allow for more natural terrain.

I guess this is better asked in the Marianas section though...

Unless the constant crashes are fixed, none of this stuff matters.

Please ensure you have posted in the crash forum with your dcs log we are looking into all issues and is the reason we have the open beta.

thank you

From today's newsletter:

"The Clouds jitter effects in VR are being worked on and will be fixed soon, we are not there yet but we feel confident in early tests that good progress has been made. Work on the fog is very promising and this is the next step in enhancing our dynamic weather engine. Check out the screenshots below."

Great news! at least now we know that the fix should be coming soon, thanks for the update!

It's nice to see ai assets being added and worked on. As low of a reward they may seem to be for ED revenue wise they're critical to the product. My suggestion though would be to prioritize some of the existing ancient models and then the next new asset should be a technical.

ED has update old exiting models on last patchs include the last and add news. The today pics show other old AI model on progress. About Technical, has planned but not show none yet.

About Old Ai updated, check my "Unofficial Roadmap".

I'm looking forward to the new fog modeling. I hope that will fix the blur issues in VR since my guess is they don't rework the old stuff anymore since they're right at bringing the new weather stuff anyway. I mean, we at least do have Mustang's shader mod in the meantime, which is far better than nothing.

The new infantry does look amazing...but, how about updating the pilot models first?  I have yet to see updated/correct US Air Force and Navy pilots/helmets.

They are being worked on as well, we just wanted to feature these at this time. Thanks.

The Internet doesn't know a thing about PT-79. It does about 76 though.

Well, that was an old model (it's been around since DCS 1.2.16 at least IIRC) that was never implemented.

But yeah, they goofed on the PT-79.

EDIT: Awesome newsletter, the Marianas looks like it's coming along nicely, and the rocks around Farallon de Medinilla look great.

With the AI units, aren't the ATZ-5 and AA-7 we have based on the Ural-4320, not the Ural-375? (While they look very similar, the 375 has a noticeably different grill to the 4320, the 375 is more flat and open, whereas the 4320 has a bit more of an angle to it. I guess the best way of putting it is the 4320 looks newer than the 375).

Incidentally our BM-21 Grad also looks to be Ural-4320 based, which makes it a BM-21-1 (original Grad was Ural-375D based).

Spoiler

Here's an ATZ-5-4320 (like the one we have in DCS):

And here's an ATZ-5-375:

In this week's newsletter, why is there no mention/acknowledgement of the continued and worsening crashes in 2.7?

It has long since become a widespread and critical problem with no obvious cause/solution.

I don't want to downplay the problem but maybe because widespread is subjective? I had 2 problems with 2.7.x versions of DCS:

- crashes with the F-14 because DCS failed to load F-14 related stuff - solved by deinstalling/installing the module again

- black screen after patch - solved by deleting the options.lua file

I never had crashes on second mission load/ switching airplane slots....i get it is annoying if you are affected by a bug, especially if it ends in a crash but i also don't see hundreds/thousands of people in that thread, that would be widespread IMHO. Again, i'm not downplaying the problem and i hope it gets fixed sooner than later but please stop with the exaggerations(widespread).
