Are you guys seriously expecting there is a line on the changelog that says: 50% improvement on VR performance. I would never put that in a changelog if I was ED because somebody will probably complain that he only gets a 49% improvement.

It is ED themselves who have always quoted the 50%.

Also, if your rig wa previously having a hard time pushing out 45 frames, dipping to 30 and now doing 60 dipping to 45, you wouldn't readily notice the difference because ASW.

Well, switch ASW off then. 30 to 45 is a 50% improvement - obviously! In my experience, the difference between 30 and 45 is quite marked.

It seemed clear from Wags’ post last night that it wouldn’t be in today’s update.

Er what was in this update 30gb ,everything looks the same ,everything plays the same...boring.

Cheers

Well considering a patch is made of code, what exactly are you expecting to see? The graphics will stay the same, the aircraft won’t magically turn into robots.

Just look at the long list of bug fixes to get an idea how much was fixed.

Yup, sorry guys, the VR enhancements are still AWOL.

Ok thanks for letting us know mate. Hate to see what the patch size would have been if they made it in. :megalol:

Best things are worth waiting for.

Could you shed some light on what exactly these VR enhancements are? Curious what's changing under the hood in DCS once those are implemented.

Thanks.

Now the mystery remains, did the improvements make it in? I only tested it in a short flight so far, and it seemed smooth but not enough to say whether or not.

lol ok, so they aren't. huh. Guess clearing out fxo and metashaders2 also did something then :D

maybe next week? :D

The patch log is immense. Great work and thanks for the font scale thing! Was a very nice surprise to read that point ajmug.png

BTW all this talk on VR improvements... what about general performance? Before the Tomcat shipped I had 45-55fps over Dubai, then it crashed down to 22-25 with said update. By OCing my CPU by some hefty ~30%, I could at least get it back up to about 40ish. That's all on a screen, not even VR. And I'm not the only one, there's been lots of reports like mine. I'll gladly take the VR improvements, but I just don't have the funds to buy a 2080 just to get the frames I once had on a 970 on the same 2.5 engine without any visual difference (I had 70-90fps on Caucasus there when it was all new)...

Thanks.

Simply the performance optimization for the Caucasus, Persian Gulf, and Nevada maps. This was working quite well in our internal trunk version, but when moved to the 2.5.5 branch, we lost the optimization. The team is investigating. Once we stomp this gremlin, we'll get this VR performance optimization into a later OB.

Thank you for your patience and support.
