Whirlaway
Love the Lightning as well. Would love to see it, but I believe it was primarily utilized in the Pacific /Chinese_Burma and North African theaters of operation and not so much in the Normandy area. Regardless, would still love to see it as an A.I. aircraft. That's not accurate. The P-38 was used in all theaters. One of our family friends was actually shot down in a p-38 over Germany. Buddyguy_PL
UP! Lest start the discusion again. We have Mosquito now and no p-38? Thats weird for me. I think p38 would be more popular plane than MosQi

Amazing how many people think the P-38 was not a factor in the ETO; 6 entire Fighter Groups were equipped at the time of D-Day. That's 6 Groups x 3 Squadrons x 16 aircraft = 288 operational airframes on a good day. It may have been outnumbered by it's contemporaries but if any one thinks almost 300 aircraft is somehow insignificant? Well...
