Hi,

I was looking to see if someone here who has the TWCS throttle would tell me if the rudder toggle axis can actually be configured as buttons (two I guess).

This will make me decide whether to buy it or not.

Thanks a lot!!!

Since it can use TARGET, yes, but it will require using TARGET to reprogram the axis.

Know for a fact? Remember this will help decide to buy it.

What do you mean exactly by reprogram the axis? It sounded like something you dont wanna do.

He was probably just referring to the fact some ppl don't like using Target. I am one of those people - I have a TWCS throttle and prefer to just plug and play and not faff with Target at all.

That said - I would highly recommend running a quick Google search on the matter, as I guarantee you are not the only person in the world to have asked this question.

And what do you use the rudder toggle for? It can or cant be put as buttons?

What you are able to do is program this (rudder) axis to send key press, not (DX) "buttons".

Example:

paddle for left send -

paddle for right send +

In game controls set this + and - to some commands.

For do this you need use that TARGET (or some 3rd party keyppader that allow map axis).

Hi, I know that. What I dont know is if it can be configured as button purely. But I guess not, if it works like ssitek's

The only way to do what you want requires the use of Target (or some other 3rd party programming tool).

To this you need be able to set this "axis to button" in controller firmware - like VKB Njoy32 or MMjoy2 firmware allow - Thrustmaster don't allow you make changes in firmware.

Anyway for games don't make difference if this axis send a button # or key input - although the last require a "gadget" software in between.

Could someone who owns it let me know how you use it? Is the tiggle good or fails and jitters a lot?

I saw that video a couple of months ago, and acoording to it, it's a great throttle. But I am concerned about the QC and not all of them being equally built, like Saitek.

TWCS is relatively new in the market, so their durability is unknown, what you want know only time will tell.

But don't expect much difference from Saitek's/Logitech, like these TWCS use cheap pontentiomer in all axis. Joystick potentiometer start spike is matter of time.

No much complains about quality after purchase in Amazon.com "reviews" - that don't worth much as review, but at least point better QC than Saitek's.

Saitek's QC comes bad right out of the box so there is no durability issue rather than a QC issue per se.

Are you saying that Thrustmaster has the same kind of poor QC? Always thought they were superior.

thanks!

No, I say that Tm QC is good - no complains from Amazon buyers, components (potentiometer) that is from same low cost category like used in Saitek and Logitech.

I just got my TWCS and all I can say is: awesome! Every single axis returns to center, no jitter, tons of hats and buttons. This is the best price/quality ratio i have ever seen.

I recommend it.

Jepp... true... :(

But you can assign the various hats as buttons. Thats what I did for most of them.

Does someone know, how I can mapp that Slew Button on the upper left side of the Throttle to the Zoom Axis? DCS won't let me do this...

Yes, you have several options. Are you using target or just directx, or perhaps target + directx?

This "Slew Button" (?) is what Tm call "Antenna axis" in their manual?

Sometimes DCS controls GUI is reluctant in see some axis by their movement, in the case select the axis by name in drop down menu.

You can see the axis name in Windows Games controller - type joy.cpl in Windows Start/Cortana box.

You sir are absolutely right, it's the Antenna Axis. Will try that out & should really RTFM :D

Thx...

Edit: It won't let me map the ZOOM-Setting - which is normally mapped to my 3rd Mouse-Button - to the Antenna-Axis of the TWCS, as I can't click on the Field...

Where can I find a command (that I can map to an axis), for zooming my view in the cockpit, while using a Tracker system?

Thats because you are not in the axis zoom. Press the axis menu and double click the zoom line at the end.

No sir; I can't click the field, even if I`m highlighting the whole line. I can click each other field, but none of the 3 fields for camera-view, which are mapped to the mouse axis.

Just for clarification; I want to map a function to some axis (preferably the antenna axis of the TWCS Throttle), which lets me zoom in or out, when I start to fly. Like shifting the seat in your car to the front. Zooming itself, will then be done using my tracker.

Maybe I have to use a different function to map, but I'm confused, that I can`t click that fu*%§ng field... :joystick:

Ok, try placing the cursor over the mouse assignments on the right and click "Clear" in the bottom. Then you should be able to map the axis.
